    Hi Trader2384,

If you are having issues with a specific EA it is hard for us to troubleshoot what it is doing. From a Tickstory point-of-view, as long as you are getting a “99%” quality back test, it indicates you are using tick data correctly. After that, it is a matter of trouble-shooting why the EA is closing a trade early or what-ever you believe is the incorrect behaviour. You will need to check things like whether you have sufficient equity, etc.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi:

Polnoxi: You will need to set up a new Facebook account which should only take a few minutes.

Jmeel: Please give us further details about what you are doing and what version of MT4 you are using. Make sure you are clicking the ‘Like’ button in the Tickstory application, not on our webpage.

Armnic1: Thank you for letting us know how you solved your problem!

    Regards.

in reply to: NY trade Hours #19177

    Hi Alearner,

Yes, the hour timestamp for the daily time-frame should be 00:00 hours and this is the case. Could you please give the exact steps to replicate your issue? Are you referring to the MT4 or file export?

    Thanks.

in reply to: lost FXT files #19164

    Hi experienced_tester,

We have tried to replicate your issue but cannot. When the ‘Make FXT read-only’ check-box is checked, the FXT files that are generated are marked as such.
Happy to assist further if you can provide further details about your issue such as your operating system and some screenshots of the resulting files as seen in Windows Files Explorer.

    Thanks.

    Hi Coolio,

This issue will be addressed shortly in the next version. In the mean-time, you can use this format to remove the decimal point.:

    {BarBeginTime:yyyy-MM-dd},{BarBeginTime:HH:mm},{Open},{High},{Low},{Close},{Volume:0}

Please let us know how you go.

    Thanks.

P.S. Your question will be moved to a new thread shortly since it isn’t related to the original topic.

    Hi Gooly,

Thanks for your suggestions. Some comments are below.

    First suggestion:
I don’t know whether it would be meaning full for Tickstory but it would be very nice to be able to tell the downloader to start the download at a specific time let’s say 2 hours after the markets closed, either be start in (pls enter): 2 from now or by giving a specific start-time?

We are currently working on a new version of Tickstory that will update the database in real-time. Stay tuned.

    Second suggestion:
Separate the dld-process from the csv-creation process to enable us to run parallel – possible?

You do not have to explicitly download a range of data before you export it. By simply clicking on ‘Export’, the system will automatically download the data for the date range as required. Please have a look at this post for further information on the downloading logic (or consult the manual):

    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22

    Third suggestion:
The csv-Tickdata-file is needed for a script to be run in MT4 to create the MT4-typival history-files.
Would it be possible to split the one and big (EURUSD.CSV has 8 GB, which is re-written every update!) Quant-csv-file into several files, let’s say one for each year?
So that only the actual year has to be re-created? My Dukascopy’s database has the size of ~165 GB and I put it on an external USB-Disk (not needed regularly) and that slows down my monthly update process. It needs for all available Dukascopy-markets more than 12h. It would be very nice if it were faster..

Not entirely sure of what you are requesting here, but when generating CSV files, you can select the dates for previous years and create individual CSV files for them.
In our upcoming versions of Tickstory, we will be improving on the speed of the Dukascopy export process.

    Regards.

    Hi Experienced_tester,

Just to be clear, the “Make FXT read-only” check-box should be checked. When FXT files are marked as ‘read-only’ they cannot be over-written by MT4.

    Hope this helps clarify further.

in reply to: Futures tick data #19159

    Hi Adibi83,

We plan to have the ability to import futures data in upcoming versions, however the actual data itself will need to be sourced by yourself.
There are a couple of data providers out there which I can’t comment on the quality of. I would advise to source it from a paid provider to guarantee some level of quality (especially if you are coding HFT strategies).

    Hope this helps.

    Hi reQuorter,

The parameters you see are to define the various settings that are defined by your broker. Generally speaking you should not need to change these unless you have specific requirements in your testing. Some of the parameters are explained in the Help manual and in even more detail on MT4 forums.

Regarding the spread, the value that you set in Tickstory will be the overriding value – the MT4 setting will be ignored.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Experienced_tester,

Once Tickstory has completed generating the FXT files, it does not touch them again unless you re-export your data.
The only possibility I can immediately think of (unless you have instructions about how to reproduce the issue), is that MT4 has overwritten them because they were not marked as ‘read only’ and you did not launch MT4 via Tickstory.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Experienced_tester,

No – there is no issue. It’s just MT4 overriding the title that Tickstory had previously applied.

Hi Experienced_tester – yes, it’s fine to close Tickstory during back-testing (after of course you have launched MT4).

    Regards.
