    Hi Trader2384,

Tickstory does not require a connection to the broker (except when you’re generating your own MT4 settings). If you wish to prevent automatic live-updates, just rename the ‘liveupdate.exe’ to ‘liveupdate1.exe” (or the like) to prevent this from happening. It can then be run manually as required.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Trader2384,

That’s correct – if you want to get the settings from your broker, you’ll need to run the Tickstory EA on a MT4 instance that is connected to your broker. This will ensure that all the settings such as Lot size are taken from the server.
You can then load the settings into Tickstory and save them as default.

    Hope this helps.

    in reply to: Weekend #19050

    Hi Ralf,

Because there is no trading on the weekend in the Dukascopy Forex market, there is no data and therefore what you see is correct. The option is available for those who wish to filter or include the weekend bars as appropriate for them.
Further discussion on the feature is here:

Hi Mike – understand what you’re saying and we will look at adding a tool-tip or the like. Widening the window isn’t really a solution since what may be sufficient for one person will undoubtedly not be sufficient for another.

    Hi Mike,

Regardless of whether you are exporting or downloading data, Tickstory will store the tick data on your local hard-drive (from the date range you have specified). When you next require the data it will simply check your hard-disk for the information. If you have not specified that symbol/date range before, it will download it from the internet.

This post goes into some detail to explain the logic:

    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22

The download logic is also explained in the user manual, so appreciate if you can take a moment to read it and let us know if there are still questions unanswered.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the suggestion – we’ll look into a way around this, although don’t you know the correct path by having selected it in the ‘folder selection’ screen?

    Regards.

Hi John – could you please provide the executables on a file share site and we will have a look. The launcher was tested on Builds 500 and 509 so there must have been additional changes in-between.

    Thanks.

    Hi Johntiror,

Generally speaking we will try to support any “mainstream” builds that have been released, however if you have a Build 509 from a broker the executables should not differ from the Build 509 we use.

    Hi Mike,

The easiest way to export to MT4 is by right-clicking on the instrument and selecting “Export to MT4”.
You can read further in the Help file (http://www.tickstory.com/help/tickstorylite) or by simply pressing the F1 key in the application.

    Hope this helps.
