Hi Dobermann,
You will need to use the /portable flag to ensure all data is stored in the MT4 directory. You will also need to make sure your MT4 installation is not under “Program Files” folder since Windows will prevent data from being written here.
Please let us know how you go.
Regards.
Hi Coffeesnob,
Thanks for for the info. We totally hear what you’re saying – we believe that it’s accessible & quality data that allows you to perform professional evaluations of a trading system. We plan to address the items you mention including giving access to multiple data-sources that can be readily/automatically updated. We’re not big on XML though and are going down the path of allowing users to configure everything via the user-interface to make it easier to set up.
Thank you for your offer of assistance – much of the design is complete and we are essentially in the development phase and just doing the hard yards to get a beta out. If you have any more specific features that you would like, then this sort of feedback really helps to make the product better.
Kind regards.
in reply to: download stock indexes…. #19695Hi 4EverMaAT,
As far as we’re aware, this data is only available directly from their website. If it were available via their JForex Platform, it may be possible.
Regards.
Hi Radu – thanks for your feedback! The Hungarian translation has been corrected and will be available in the official v1.3 release.
Kind regards.
Hi Coffeesnob,
Thank you for your comprehensive suggestions and information. Many of the items that you have mentioned such as an auto-update feature are on the TODO list. As you know, Tickstory is primarily focused on data gathering and dissemination which means that a back-testing function is not immediately on the cards – especially when you consider the all alternatives that are available.
The reason for the limited activity on Version 1 at the moment is that all development effort is being invested in the new version. This has been taking some time to design properly while factoring in all the great feedback we have been getting. With the redesigned framework, we’re hoping that once the new application is deployed we can move a lot faster on all the new feature requests.
If you have examples of software which works for you, please let us know more so we can understand better what features give the most value to you.
Thanks & regards.

Thanks.
in reply to: 0.9.1.0 cant run mt4 build 509? #19019Hi Rapple,
We’ll have a look into this further to see if we can reproduce it – are you using Windows 8?
Do note that with or without the gold star the application functionality is the same. If you have already liked us on Facebook then thanks for the support! 😉Regards.
in reply to: Facebook like #19646Hi Stevo,
A couple of users are reporting this issue, however we’re unsure of whether it relates to something specially with Windows 8 at the moment.
Until we investigate further, it is still possible to ‘Like’ us via Facebook directly. Note that though the gold star does not appear within the application, the features available to you will be the same.Regards.
in reply to: MetaTrader 4 Build 574 to be released Febr. 3rd !! #19637Hi Gooly/Jeff,
Thanks for highlighting this. It does appear numerous breaking changes are being introduced and our advice is to not upgrade your terminals to this version for the moment (leave them disconnected so your terminal does not auto-update). We will let you know when we are able to support Build 574.
Thanks.
in reply to: Automated downloading via Command Line #18911Hi Coffeesnob,
Thanks for your feedback. We’re planning to streamline the download process in the next major version of Tickstory. This should involve simply setting the date range once at setup and then every time you load Tickstory it will automatically update the specified range. Is this what you were thinking of or is a command-line somehow more versatile?
Thanks.
in reply to: variable spread in backtesting…. #19633Hi 4EverMaAT,
That’s correct – the launcher needs to support variable spreads, otherwise it wont work. This is because variable spread capability in MT4 is actually ‘fudged’ by replacing the trade volume with the spread. MT4 will not use the information in a correct way unless it is told to by the launcher.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: 0.9.1.0 cant run mt4 build 509? #19016Hi Rapple,
Could you please let us know what browser pops up – is it Internet Explorer? What particular version? Does the Facebook ‘Like’ button still remain in the top-right of the Tickstory application? If so, it could mean that some browser security settings (cookies?) may not be keeping you logged in correctly.
If you have a screenshot of what you’re seeing, this might help.Thanks.
in reply to: 0.9.1.0 cant run mt4 build 509? #19013Hi 112600,
When you click on the ‘Like’ button within Tickstory, a Facebook login prompt will pop up. Put in our login details and click the ‘Keep me logged in button’ on this screen (not on a separate browser window) and it should work.
Thanks for showing your appreciation!
Regards.
in reply to: Export of MT4 Symbol Properties #18977Hi – If it is working with the settings from GBPUSD, then the first step would be to copy all those settings and use them when exporting XAUUSD. If the back-test looks betterm then fine tune the individual settings (Lot step, etc) from there so they correspond with your broker’s settings.
Hope this helps.
