Hi all,
Below is the link to the latest RC. In this version there are several additions to support MT4 Build 600+:
– In File->Settings, Tickstory now allows you to set your MT4 Terminal directory as before, however it now also allows you to specify a Data Folder location. The default data folder is automatically selected based on whether you have a matching directory in your ‘Roaming’ path (eg. C:Users[Username]AppDataRoamingMetaQuotesTerminal[TerminalID]). If there is no such folder, the default data folder will be the MT4 Installation Path. This is the path that can be used when you are working in /portable mode.
– Also in the settings is the ability to specify command-line arguments when launching MT4. If you wish to launch MT4 in portable mode, simply type “/portable” as the command-line argument.
– The launcher has also been updated to now ensure the Modelling Quality is displayed correctly and that the “permission denied” errors that people were getting on the more recent builds has been corrected.
– We have added a ‘Donate’ button in the application if you would like to support the ongoing development of Tickstory. (Note that our current income only covers server/bandwith costs – our development time & support is essentially being provided for free at the moment so your contribution is appreciated).

in reply to: TestGenerator: deficient data #19717Hi Trader2384,
The forum link above gives you the URL to Build 509.
Thanks.
in reply to: Need help, pls. Format FXT #19701Hi,
The current beta release that seeks to support Build 600 is being discussed here:
Please stay tuned.
Thanks.
Hi all,
Unfortunately there have been numerous recent updates to MT4 which have apparently broken the RC. We are trying as best as we can to resolve the issue, however the only option at this stage is to ensure you are working with an earlier version of MT4. You can find Build 509 here:
http://www.tickstory.com/files/Metatrader.update.509.zip
We appreciate your patience and support while we try to update Tickstory to support the latest MT4 builds.
Thanks.
in reply to: TestGenerator: deficient data #19713Hi – If you are still getting a report that “21 records”only exist, then it is likely you have exported to the incorrect location OR if you are using the latest MT4 Build, then you will need to wait for an update to Tickstory. You can follow the updates to v1.3 here:
We recommend you keep an older version of MT4 available (<= Build 509) and back-test with that until the official release of v1.3 is available. Regards.
in reply to: Problem when exporting data to MT4 #19723Hi Jim777,
Welcome to the forum. Windows 7 and above introduce a protection measure to prevent applications from writing data to the “Program Files” folder. As such, you will need to specify an alternate location for your tick data to be stored. To do this, go to File->Settings and select a folder for your “Dukascopy Store location”that isn’t in ‘”Program Files” (eg. C:Users[UserName]DocumentsTick data). You will obviously need to create the directory if it doesnt currently exist.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: download stock indexes…. #19697That’s correct – the web interface uses a different interface/API to that of the JForex platform. The Tickstory does not support the download process that Dukascopy use on their web interface.
Regards.
in reply to: skip download when tick data to csv file #19708Hi 4EverMaat,
Please refer to the manual as it explains how the download function works. Tickstory does not re-download data if it already exists on disk.
This post also explains in detail:Regarding appending to an existing CSV, this function will be available in the next major version of Tickstory.
Regards.
in reply to: TestGenerator: deficient data #19714HI Trader 2384,
Yes, I believe there is a minimum of 100 bars that are required by the strategy tester.
Regards.
in reply to: no historical data #19712Hi Damn_testing,
Are you aware of the MT4 size limit on the database files? See here for more:
Hope this helps.
in reply to: MAYDAY – Does not work with Build 600 #19705Hi Vitali,
We are currently looking at Build 600. Further updates and discussions regarding 1.3RC can be found on this thread:
Regards.
in reply to: designate export folder…. #19709Hi 4EverMaat,
The file export does permit you to specify the absolute path name for the CSV (etc) files. Simple enter this file specification in the ‘output filename’ box.
Tickstory will not output information to the MT4 ‘history’ folder by default as this is not the correct location to export files of this type (remember, not all users of Tickstory are necessarily using MT4).Regards.
Hi Dobermann, Ticktester & Radu –
We are currently looking at the issues you mentioned, including assessing Build 600. For the moment, it should be possible to launch MT4 in portable mode outside of Tickstory (i.e. create a short-cut to the application and add /portable to the command-line parameters). As long as your FXT files are read-only, you should be able to continue back-testing until a further update is available.
Regards.

HI,
First i would like to thank u for the service u provide. And for the latest version of MT4 i am not able to install it the modeling quality is na.
Can u please explain the steps to install and let know if we have to download the data again from dukascopy
Aravindh
Hi Aravindh,
Correct – for the moment, modelling quality is not displayed correctly. This is a quirk with using the new MT4 build and we may address it in the future. It should not affect your back-test results.
Re: Dukascopy data, you should not need to re-load this information – simply ensure your Dukascopy ‘Store location’ is the same folder as before and Tickstory will use the existing data.
Regards.
in reply to: Need help, pls. Format FXT #19698Hi Norbertino – what version/build of MT4 are you using?
Thanks.
