in reply to: Data Accuracy #19841
Hi Trader2384,
Unfortunately it’s very difficult to troubleshoot issues with specific EAs and comparisons against other brokers. The best bet is to compare the bar charts between your broker and the Tickstory exported data while ensuring you have matching time-zones, etc. If there is a problem with the actual data that Tickstory is exporting we can assist further when we know the details (for example, if Tickstory is applying the wrong time-shift, the bar data OHLC is incorrect, etc).
Thanks.
Hi Kiwifrog,
Could you please elaborate on the problem? Is it just that Tickstory will not allow you to select the MT4 installation?
Please check out this thread to see how Tickstory determines if a installation is valid:
With the latest MT4 changes, Tickstory will search in the directory:
history
for the symbols.sel file. Let us know if you are still having issues – if you could please post a new thread with the details this would help.
Thanks.
in reply to: Remote Support (Please) #19842Hi Trader2384,
Before we consider other support options, is it possible to elaborate on the “hitches” you’re coming across?
The chances are that other people may be having similar issues so it’s easier if we document the solution so it will assist others (or update our documentation accordingly). If you have some screenshots, this will also help.
Many thanks.
in reply to: Translation #19827Hi Positiveday,
We’re counting on users helping us improve the translations after they’ve finished laughing 😉 Which particular language are you referring to?
If you need immediate relief, you can delete the translation directory in the Tickstory application directory. We will take the suggestion on-board for selecting being able to select the translation within the application.
Thanks!
in reply to: Multiple Instrument EA Testing #19836Hi Itinerant,
As far as I’m aware the MT4 back-tester does not allow you to cross-reference another pair.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Low quality fxt option #19833Hi Postiveday,
Have you tried to generate the export with all the “FXT Timeframes” unchecked? This will generate only the bar data (HST files) and not the tick data (FXT).
Thanks.
Hi Gooly,
MT4 needs an FXT file during back-test so it will be created/used regardless. As far as I am aware, if you are using the high/lows of a candle it should be sufficient just to generate the HST files.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Need to launch mt4 through Tickstory? #19794Hi – At this stage we think it’s a permissioning issue within Windows that is preventing the read-only flag from being set, however we are still unable to reproduce it. Are you able to try this for us: Delete the FXT files completely from the tester/history directory and re-generate them. Does this fix the issue? It may be that if the user that create the files is not the same as the user writing the files then there is an issue.
Thanks.
Hi Gooly,
Not sure where you are getting this number from. Can you try to export with the “Suppress volume” option and see if you are getting odd values? If so, then it’s most likely MT4 adding something.
Check out this thread for further discussion about volume: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=222Regards.
Hi Jethro69,
The title bar can change, however once MT4 has been successfully launched by Tickstory this should not make a difference. If you are getting 99.9% back-test results then everything is fine.
Joy – it should not matter that your installation is in Chinese. You should ensure that you have .NET v3.5 SP1 installed correctly (note that .NET v4.0 is not the same). You can refer to this post if you are having issues with .NET installations: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=360

in reply to: Problem selecting MT4 folder (was: FX Choice) #19823Hi David,
Please ensure you have launched MT4 at least once prior to setting up Tickstory. You can also consult this post to see how Tickstory validates a MT4 installation:
Thanks.
in reply to: Different prices from the same Dukascopy download #19822Hi Tickroll,
The only thing that comes to mind is that you are looking at historical data that has been downloaded from your broker. Make sure that you have exported to the correct directory and server directory.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: obtaining both MT4 data and generic #19818Hi JiveTrader,
As far as I am aware, the most granular data that FSB uses is 1-minute bar data. If this is the case, then yes, it would be less accurate if your trading system is tick-sensitive.
To export to FSB you will simply need to use the ‘Forex SB Bar format’ which will output bar data in the selected time-frame (eg. 15-minute, etc).Hope this helps.
in reply to: obtaining both MT4 data and generic #19816Hi JiveTrader,
Given that CSV and MT4 use two different formats, you will always need to reproduce the extract twice in some way or the other. When you say “re-download”, do note that Tickstory only downloads the tick data once from the web. After this, the time taken to generate your data is attributed to writing to the desired file format.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: V 1.3RC2 Broker Settings/Deploy MQ4 Bug #19782Hi OGfx – v1.3 has been officially released which should address this issue.
Thanks.
