in reply to: Problem with back-test #20000
Hi ionico,
Sorry but since we don’t have the source code for the EA we can’t tell you what’s causing it. If you have another EA with source code where you see this happening, there may be a better chance of determining what the problem is.
Thanks.
in reply to: Bad Export ?? #20131Hi Breunig,
Sorry, not sure I understand the question – perhaps a step-by-step run down of what you are doing might help?
Thanks.
in reply to: Backtests run only since 01.01.2013 #20146This will depend on the particular symbol and the accompanying tick activity. As a general rules, 2-3 years is usually under the limit. Outside of this, if you want to find the absolute maximum you will need to experiment to find the boundaries for the symbol you’re exporting.
in reply to: [BUG] Gaps when export on Tickstory v1.5! #20116Hi Rodrigo,
We have tried to reproduce the problem with the information you have provided, however all looks good. Please refer to the attached screenshots which show the export parameters we used and the resulting chart.
Some things to check:– Is the data correct data range visible when you view the data in the MT4 History Center?
– Could it be that you have not exported to the correct data folder? (Check this in MT4 by going to File->Open Data Folder. The folder location should match the path specified in Tickstory File->Settings->MT4 Settings->Data folder).
– Try exporting data with the settings we have provided and see if the issue still occurs.Thanks.

[attachment=0:5v0czyht]screen2.jpg[/attachment:5v0czyht]in reply to: Backtests run only since 01.01.2013 #20144It is likely you have come across a limitation with MT4 which only allows FXT files to be a maximum of 4gb.
In such as case, MT4 back-tester will use only the data within this size boundary and hence why you can’t back-test the entire date range. Please see this post for further info and workarounds:
Thanks.
in reply to: Prefix Suffix #20100Hi Moralproxy,
I would assume that the results are different as some of the trades the EA is taking are not allowable due to the margin constraints. Very rudimentary speaking, you could just set these values to zero to begin with and ensure your EA parameters are set within the bound of your account size. For more accurate back-testing you will need to use the values appropriate for your broker.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Prefix Suffix #20098Hi Moralproxy,
Zero are the values that are being returned by your broker, but you may want to review this later to match the actual requirements of your broker.
Regards.

If the other post has not resolved your “no data for testing” error, please provide us with more details so we can assist such as:
– The version of Tickstory you are using.
– The MT4 Build you are using.
– What symbol you are trying to export and the name of the symbol in your broker MT4 terminal (eg. ‘EURUSDm’).
– Whether you are launching MT4 via Tickstory in portable mode (i.e. In Tickstory File->Settings->MT4 Settings, your ‘Command-line arguments’ are set to ‘/portable’).
– A screenshot of the contents of your data folder directory (In MT4, go to File->Open Data folder).
– Your Tickstory MT4 configuration setup (particularly the location of your data folder – it needs to match the location of the MT4 Data Folder above).
– And any other information that may assist.Thanks.
in reply to: [BUG] Gaps when export on Tickstory v1.5! #20114Hi Rodrigo,
Still not sure what you mean by gaps – are they occurring on weekends? Is this because you have the ‘Filter weekends’ setting checked? If not, appreciate if you could show a screenshot of what you mean and the exact steps you are taking to reproduce the problem. The more information the better as it assists us with troubleshooting and assisting you further.
Thanks.
in reply to: Prefix Suffix #20096Hi Moralproxy,
Thanks for the details – good to hear that you have solved most of your issue.
Regarding the settings you have highlighted as incorrect, these are settings that need to be manually entered since MT4 unfortunately doesn’t allow you to acquire this information via MQL. You will note leverage, for example, cannot be obtained via the MARKETINFO command.
Regarding spread, you can set this value to whatever wish in order to adequately test your EA. The TickstoryInfoExpert automatically assumes a value (in this case 2 pips) if it does not get a reasonable value from the broker (this can happen for various reasons). Similiarly, since the broker is returning zero for initial margin, the Tickstory EA is assuming a value of 100000. In all cases, you have the ability to replace the settings with whatever you choose.
The good news is that once you finished manually enter these details, you can simply “Save as default” so you will not need to do this process again – all these settings will be used whenever you next export.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: No data for testing #20122FYI – Further tests have been done on the launcher for Build 646 and it appears to still be working. If you require further assistance, please ensure you post comprehensive details about what you are doing and the versions of software you are using. This will help us identify the issue sooner and eliminate iterative posts.
Thanks.
in reply to: v1.5 Released! #20020Hi Writegvf,
Could you please download and try the updated version here:
http://www.tickstory.com/files/tickstorylite_setup.1.5.1.zip
It seems that (specifically) the WTI Light Crude was out by a factor of 10.
Please let us know how you go – if all is well, the fix will be available to the general public shortly.
Thanks.
in reply to: [BUG] Gaps when export on Tickstory v1.5! #20112Hi Rodrigo,
Could you kindly elaborate on the issue you are having with “gaps”? Gaps in the Dukascopy or Tickstory exported data? What dates? Are you working with CSV or MT4 data? .. And any other information that may be relevant for us to reproduce the problem.
Thanks!
