    Hi CraneLiu,

This post appears to be a duplicate of your previous question here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=536.

    To answer your questions:

    1) Try marking the HST files as ‘read-only’ if you need to log in. This hopefully will prevent any updates from the broker’s server.
    2) If you get a 99.9% modelling quality in your back-testing results, you will know that MT4 has used the exported tick data correctly.

    Hope this answers you questions.

    Hi Craneliu,

    Try performing the following steps:

    1) Export the Tickstory data to MT4 (ensure you have marked the FXT files ‘read only’).
    2) Launch MT4 from Tickstory Lite
    3) Start back test.

The main difference of course is not to log in which causes the update of historical data from the broker’s server.
You will know you have successfully utilised the exported tick data if you get a modelling quality of 99.9% in your results.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Mypart,

Perhaps try putting some debugging code in the EA and see if the problem relates to the EA?i

    Hi Max,

To resolve this error message, check that:

    – You are exporting the data to the correct directories (i.e. ensure your ‘MT4 Data Folder’ setup matches that of MT4 when you select the File->Open data folder option).
    – You are launching MT4 via Tickstory by pressing F8 within Tickstory.
    – You are correctly exporting the data so it matches the symbol name used in MT4 (see viewtopic.php?f=4&t=458 for more on this topic).

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Crane,

The launcher performs a special function by allowing Metatrader to use the tick data that Tickstory generates. From time-to-time however, Metatrader releases a build which can cause this function not to work. In this case, you will need to revert to the previous version of MT4 or wait for a update to Tickstory that resolves the issue. The message highlights that although we endeavour to keep the feature functional, the availability of the launcher feature is not entirely in our control.

    Hope this answers your question.

    Hi Alexflibero,

Yes – you always need to launch MT4 via Tickstory. This is an important step as without it, MT4 will not correctly use the generated exported data. If you get 99.9% modelling quality then you can ensure that 1) you have launched MT4 correctly and 2) that your exported FXT & HST files are in the correct location.

    Regards.

    Hi Jehan,

If you are using the same MT4 build & the same EA, the different results are like caused by utilising different “MT4 Info” settings (such as spread) when generating your export. This can cause markedly different back-test results depending on which parameters are different.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ken331,

If you wish to load the settings for a 4-digit broker, you can either load the “Generic 4 Digit Broker” config file when exporting to MT4. Alternatively, you can create your own settings specifically for your broker by following the instructions set out in the ‘Help’ tab of the MT4 Export and also in the Tickstory manual. This will ensure the various settings that are used during the export are tailored for 4-digit brokers.

    Hope this helps.

in reply to: Tick data #20349

    Hi g412,

Tickstory exports tick-level information which means every time there is a price change or activity the data is captured and output. This obviously means that many ticks can be exported within the one bar (not just the OHLC). This information is provided by Dukascopy which well reputed for providing quality historical data.

    Hope this answers your questions.

    Hi Trader2384,

Assuming no back-tester changes have occurred between these two builds, the only other variables are the MT4 Info parameters you used to generate the back-test.

in reply to: MT5 vs MT4 test #20322

    Hi Agora,

Tickstory does not support MT5 – as far as we are aware MT5 does not natively support the use of tick data.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Marek8,

It’s possible that the config file name is causing a problem and you may need to explicitly specify a config file name. Please refer to this post for more discussion on how to resolve this error:
