in reply to: Modeling quality changes based on timeframe #20334
Hi Shani,
Make sure your FXT files are less than 4GB in size as there are limitations within MT4 that could be causing your issue.

in reply to: v1.5 Released! #20061Hi SuperOleg,
The main change between 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 that may affect your results is a fix that ensured swap was applied correctly. You should be able to cross-check this by using 1.5.2 and setting ‘Swap enable’ to 0 and seeing if you get the same results as in 1.5.1.
Other than this, there were no other changes made between these versions that should affect your back-test results.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Problem with MT4 opitmizer #20419Hi Scott – Are you getting results from using “normal” back-testing mode? In your optimisation run, you can also right-click in the Optimisation Results and “Skip Useless Results” to filter out parameters that might yield no trades.

in reply to: Problem saving to file in Forex Tester format #20379Hi RMartin,
It’s best to specify an absolute path name (eg. C:UsersYourNameDocuments{Symbol}.csv) when exporting to file and you will find the file in that directory.
Hope this helps.
Hi NNN,
Many thanks for the detailed problem report. We are in the process of replacing the charting facility so we expect this issue to be resolved in the next major update.
Kind regards.
in reply to: change server location #20418Hi Alijay,
Good to hear that you resolved the issue.

in reply to: Exprt to File Fails #20420Hi Alifreeman,
Without seeing a screenshot of what you are describing it seems that you are trying to set your “Timeframe” to something other than “Tick” while then trying to export a “bar” format or field. If your timeframe is for bar data (such as 15-minute), you can only export the fields “Open”, “High”, “Low” and “Close”. If you are exporting tick data, you need to export the “Bid” and “Ask” fields. If you do not, you will run into problems since Open/High/Low/Close is not valid for tick data.
Just follow these parameters:
1) Select time-frame to be “tick”.
2) Select the output format to be the pre-defined “Tick” format.
3) Perform your export. Please consult the manual for further information.
Thanks
in reply to: Exprt to File Fails #20423Hi Alifreeman,
Thanks for the screenshot. The fact that you are getting errors indicates that there is a problem with exporting. In your case you are getting the error “cannot connect to remote server” which indicates that you either:
1) Don’t have an active connection to the internet.
2) Have an internet connection via a proxy server that you have not specified in your Tickstory connection settings.
3) Are trying to download too much data at once, causing either your internet connection or Dukascopy to reject the requests for data. Please go to File->Settings in Tickstory and click on the “Test” button. This will rule out 1) and 2). If this doesnt help, you will need to trouble-shoot why your internet connection is not working correctly.
Re: Absolute filename – yes, specifiy an absolute directory along with a filename when exporting.
Regards.
in reply to: Exprt to File Fails #20421Hi Alifreeman,
The files you see are the Dukascopy tick data which is automatically downloaded and cached in your Dukascopy store folder location. You can ignore this directory as it is only used by Tickstory to store downloaded tick data so you don’t need to constantly download it from the web.
When exporting to file, ensure you have enough disk space and that you have specified an absolute filename (eg. C:UsersYourNameDocumentsGBPUSD.csv). If you are still having difficulty, could you please let us know the exact dates you are exporting along with your settings (a screenshot would be useful) so we can see if we can reproduce your issue.Thanks.
in reply to: change server location #20416Hi Aljay,
Check the mentioned directory to see if there is a corresponding *.srv file for FXCM-GBPDemo01 (i.e. FXCM-GBPDemo01.srv). If this file doesn’t exist, this would explain why Tickstory is not picking it up. In this case, I can only imagine that either:
1) You have inadvertently selected the wrong MT4 Installation Folder which contains the server you are after. If you have two separate installations of FXCM, then ensure you have selected the correct one.
2) The “FXCM-AUDDemo01” and “FXCM-GBPDemo01” are actually the same thing (perhaps within MT4 it is known as FXCM-GBPDemo01). In this case, try exporting a specific date range for say EURUSD and see if you see the matching date range within MT4 Historical Data Center. If so, then they are the same.
Hope this helps.

in reply to: Different results between 1M and 5M backtesting #20413Hi Danny_pip,
Unfortunately we can’t assist addressing issues with specific EAs & strategy tests – as you can imagine, this would take up lots of time and detract from assisting Tickstory users. The best we can suggest is to compare a single differing trade and try to understand why there is a difference.
The other thing to try is posting some of your code on a related forum to see if others can assist you with pin-pointing the problem.Hope this helps.
in reply to: change server location #20414Hi Aljay,
The alternate server name should be available for selection via the ‘Select’ button in the MT4 Configuration settings. Tickstory detects available servers by checking for the corresponding named *.srv file that should reside in the {MT4 Data Folder}config directory.

Try ‘force’-refreshing your page as it may be stale. The direct link to the download is:

Regarding the CCI indicator, I would suggest that you ensure you are getting 99.9% back-testing quality first to ensure you are using the correct data. There is no change in the updated version that would affect the value of the CCI. Tickstory does not generate any data pertaining to CCI – MT4 calculates this off from the historical data it has. Other things to check would be to ensure you are not querying beyond the historical data you have exported (including ensuring your strategy-tester date range encapsulates this historical range). Also check that you are querying the symbol correctly (etc).
We would also advise that you try troubleshoot with various other indicators and see if there is a similar problem. Unless there’s something specifically wrong with the data being output by Tickstory, we have limited scope to help with what could be an EA-specific issue.
Regards.
