    Hi k00tje,

In the screenshots you provided, can you please try changing your “Decimal symbol” to a dot (.) and the “Digit grouping symbol” to a comma (,)?

    Thanks.

in reply to: BACK TESTING HELP #19269

    Hi Ysame,

Doesn’t sound like you’re doing anything wrong. Depending on your timeframe there could be many hundreds/thousands of ticks that are processed before the first bar is formed. You can accelerate the MT4 back-tester by increasing the speed with the glider control near the ‘Visual’ checkbox in the back-tester. I would suggest having a read through some MT4 forums to find out more about the back-testing process.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Radu,

As always, thanks for your feedback! We’re in the midst of revamping the charting side of things, so thanks for your translation updates – we’ll improve on them in upcoming versions!

    Kind regards.

    Hi Madk,

The above posts appear to have confirmed that >2gb does now work (due to updates in MT4). Have you tried it out?

    Thanks.

    Hi SWhite,

Sorry for the delay in responding. We’re hoping you resolved the issue in the end? There is no specific build we can offer you that shouldn’t already work for you. If the file does not exist, we can’t immediately think of any reason except for file virtualization that must be causing this.

    Regards.

    Hi Harvdog42,

The whole advantage of using the ‘every-tick’ mode of course is that it allows you to perform tick-accurate back-tests. This is inherently slow, however one way you could speed things up is filter duplicate ticks if your strategy is not dependent on individual ticks. Hopefully some other users might be able to suggest some ways they speed things up, otherwise I would suggest you follow some of the threads in the MT4 back-testing forums.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ralf. Can you please tell us what date range, symbol and time-frame you’re looking at?

    Hi Ralf,

Sorry, what I meant was if you go to File->Open offline-> Symbol (Timeframe) and view your chart, does it reflect the chart you see in visual or non-visual mode? Just trying to relate what you see in visual and non-visual mode back to what is in the MT4 historical database.

    Thanks.

    Hi Harvdog42,

Please check this thread out to see how you might need to map your symbol to whatever your MT4 platform is using:

    viewtopic.php?f=4&t=61

If this isn’t your case, then appreciate if you can start a new thread to detail the issue you are having.

    Thanks.

    Hi lougavot,

As far as we are aware, this information is only available on the Dukascopy website. If/when they make it available on their JForex platform we should be able cater for this.

    Regards.

    Hi K00tje,

Thanks for the further information – that really helps narrow down the issue. There are Windows Regional settings that can dictate the expected format of numbering, however Tickstory does cater for this by forcing everything to be read in as “en-US”. Would you happen to have some specific settings in your “U.S” Windows Regional settings that might hint at why it doesn’t like the point (“.”)?

    Thanks.

    Hi Ralf,

Could you please tell us which version appears when you open just a normal historical chart?

    Thanks.

    Hi K00tje,

There is no “validation” logic per se except to say that all the tokens in the file must be recognised. And yes, if it doesn’t find a valid setting it will use a default.

You were saying before that the config file fails to load anything after the “Maps to” token (that is, all the settings appear as zero?). If this line is removed, do the subsequent settings get read in correctly? You need to remove each line in turn so we can identify the line that is causing the problem.

    Thanks.
