in reply to: Help setting up ASX Index #20491
Hi Danny,
Could you please detail the issues you are having? Are you getting an error? Is the price coming out correctly when back-testing?
Thanks.
in reply to: Excel to MT4 (realtime data feed) #20630Hi John,
Many thanks for the comprehensive information. Given that it seems that it would take some time/effort to pursue this functionality, we’ll need to gauge what sort of numbers of people would be interested in such a feature. From what I understand, data is only available to those with active trading accounts on each of these systems?
Thanks again.
in reply to: MT4 Export keeps disappearing (was: Downloads) #20649Hi Tckstr,
If I understood correctly, your MT4 export is “disappearing” every time you try to back-test. If this is the case, make sure:
1) You are not connected to your broker. Otherwise, MT4 will possibly refresh data from your broker upon start up.
2) Ensure you have checked the “Make FXT file read-only” when exporting to MT4. This will ensure MT4 cannot overwrite these files.
3) Ensure you have launched MT4 via Tickstory by pressing the F8 key within Tickstory. As an extra measure of checks, ensure that one you have exported the data to MT4 that you can see the correct exported date ranges & data within MT4’s historical data center.
Hope this helps.
Brilliant – glad to hear you got it working. Thanks for letting us know.
Regards.
Hi Andrzejw,
We have tried this on an FXCM MT4 platform which has the symbol SPX500 for trade. You can download it from fxcm.com.au.
Attached is a screenshot of the the parameters we used when exporting the SP500 data. You will need to manually adjust some parameters to suit. What you may have missed noting is that you were receiving some error in the back-tester journal such as “tester cannot calculate prices” or perhaps your trades caused your equity to go to zero, ceasing all trades. Keep an eye out for these sorts of issues and make sure you have sufficient equity (Expert properties -> Initial deposit).
You can find additional information about the “tester cannot calculate prices” error on this thread: http://www.tickstory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=450
Hope this helps.
Hi Andrzejw,
Could you kindly confirm you have tried this on another (ideally English) MT4 terminal such as:
https://pepperstone.com/open-account/demo-download.php
Could you please also confirm that the same problem is occurring for instruments other than S&P500?
Thanks.
Hi Andrzejw ,
That might be a good idea to try a different terminal. If you are able to reproduce the behaviour then please let us know the exact steps, including which terminal you downloaded, the stock you exported, etc and we can try reproduce the problem.
Thanks.
in reply to: v1.5 Released! #20065Hi MrMedia,
Thanks for the links. Reading through the documentation it’s not entirely clear what platforms are supported. From what it seems, it is only limited to those with FXCM accounts?
Regards.
in reply to: Help me please #20646Hi Worldshot,
If you have downloaded data, the system will not downloaded it again for subsequent export operations. Please see here for a detailed explanation of how the download process works (and also refer to the manual):
Regards.
Hi Andrzejw,
I would try reducing the date range you export and see if this resolves the issue. Try say 1 year to begin with and then increase it once you can confirm it is working. There may be some other internal limitation within MT4 that we’re not aware of. Either that, or there could be some issue in the EA that is causing the issue? To discount this, try a generic EA such as “MACD Sample” to ensure it tests all the way through.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Light Crude OIl data not download 404 #20121Hi Tomas,
What do you mean by summary? Are you referring to higher time-frames (1-minute, etc)? If so, Tickstory always downloads the most accurate/granular information (that is, ticks) and then convert them into the requested time-frame.
Regards.
in reply to: backtest not complete #18755Hi Andrzejw,
It doesn’t sound like the 4GB limitation is causing your problem. Your other thread on this topic has been answered here:

Thanks.
in reply to: v1.5 Released! #20063Hi MrMedia,
The source of all the data at the moment is from Dukascopy (http://www.dukascopy.com) who provide a trading exchange/platform that trade these instruments. If they introduce Coffee for trading then it’s a possibility for us to acquire this information.
If you have any other sources that might provide us this information then please let us know and we can look to including it.Thanks.
Hi Andrzejw,
Check the following:
– That your data has been exported to the correct location. That is, make sure that your MT4 Data Folder (File->Open Data folder) and Tickstory Data folder (File->Settings->MT4 Settings) are the same.
– Ensure that the exported ranges for the data appears correctly in MT4’s History Center.
– Ensure you are getting 99.9% modelling quality on your back-test (if not, make sure you are launching via Tickstory’s launcher).
– Ensure you have no date ranges set on the Strategy Tester.Thanks.
in reply to: Light Crude OIl data not download 404 #20119Hi Tomas,
I have just tried downloading the last week of data for Light Crude and it appears to be available. Presumably Dukascopy have changed the range of historical data they have available for this symbol.
Regards.
