    Hi Kentzversky,

‘Margin Currency’ is a separate field used by the MT4 export (FXT) file. It essentially the base currency of the instrument and yes, you are correct – it should be EUR in the case of EURUSD (i.e. the base currency). In the case of non-FOREX instruments (such as GOLD), it should be USD.

This issue has already been addressed in the next major version of Tickstory and we will also put a note to change the TickstoryExpert file so it correctly sets this value. Thanks for taking the time to detail your issue.

    Regards.

    Hi Sydap2003,

If you can give us the steps to reproduce the issue we can try investigate this further. It shouldn’t be the case that the data is simply “missing” and it would be useful if you could confirm whether the data files do in-fact exist if this occurs again. Check also that you haven’t inadvertently selected a different MT4 Server, in which case your MT4 Data Folder will change and your data history will therefore appear empty even though your previously exported data remains intact under your original export location.

    Regards.

    Hi Kentzversky,

Tickstory performs no calculations on margin – it simply exports broker stated values and MT4 does the rest. In the case of ‘Free Margin Mode’, it acquires this information from the MQL command AccountFreeMarginMode() (see http://docs.mql4.com/account/accountfreemarginmode).

I’m not sure if you can find some help in the discussion here: http://forum.mql4.com/5911 although this relates to an older MT4 build.

    Regards.

    Hi Naddmr,

Thanks for your feedback and for raising the ‘Generate HST’ issue. We have confirmed that this is indeed an issue and will address it in a future version.
Regarding the ‘remembering settings’ feature, this will be addressed in the next major release of Tickstory.

    Regards.

    Hi Kentzversky,

The ‘Free margin mode’ can be set in the ‘Metatrader Info’ tab when exporting to MT4. The setting is just to the right of the ‘Leverage’ setting.
The other two settings you mention – profit calc mode & margin calc mode – can also be set on this screen in the ‘Symbol Settings’ section.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Kentzversky,

The only setting that Tickstory embeds with regard to Free Margin is the ‘Free Margin Mode’ where the setting can be:

    Dont Use = 0
    Use All = 1
    Use Profit = 2
    Use Loss = 3

All that I can suggest is that you ensure this matches your broker. It may also be worthwhile referring to the MT4 forums as they may be better placed to assist. See http://forum.mql4.com/67106 for example.

    Hope this helps.

    HI Gabrejos,

To update to the latest MT4 Build that supports 4GB, simply download Metatrader from a broker that supports demos such as pepperstone.com.au.

    Hi Primito,

That is correct. You can use the code in the above-mentioned post to check whether the spread value is as you expect while back-testing.

    Hi Primito,

When using the tick-data method of back-testing, Tickstory already embeds the spread value within the resulting data (FXT) file. The spread value can only then be changed using the FXT Editor.
The MT4 Strategy ‘spread’ setting will have no effect except when you are back-testing without using Tickstory. Please have a read of the manual which explains more about how to edit Metatrader FXT files int he section titled ‘MT4 Data Editor’. This thread might also be useful: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=627

    Hi Tckstr,

It is not clear what problem you are encountering. Are you getting an error message? Please describe exactly what the issue is and the steps you are taking.

    Thanks.

Hi Tal1974 – you can get information about the time-zone shifts by clicking in the ‘i’ button near the time-zone selection combo. Tickstory uses the time-zone information supplied by your Windows installation. If the information is not correct, it means that you need to apply any missing Windows updates and check again.

    Hope thish helps.

    Hi Autumnleaves,

    Could you provide the following:

    1) A screenshot showing the error message you are getting when launching Tickstory.
    2) A screenshot of the Windows .NET installation information (i.e. Control Panel -> Programs and Features).

    Thanks.

Thanks, 0GG0. If error occurs when showing charts, we are aware of the issue.

    Hi Autumnleaves,

Is Tickstory displaying an error when you double-click on it? Any problem during start-up is usually caused by a corrupt or incorrect .NET installation. Please confirm the version of Windows you are using along with the .NET version which should be v3.5 SP2.

    Thanks.
