in reply to: Were is my csv file??? #18730
Hi Daan,
If you do not explicitly provide a path name, the CSV file will be written to the Tickstory application directory. If you have the Windows 7 virtualisation feature switched on, it could be that the file has actually been placed in a user-specific path.
It is recommended that you explicitly specify a path on your next export if you wish to avoid this issue (or disable the Windows virtualisation feature).
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Can’t Install Tickstory #18727Hi mkeropian,
Firstly ensure your MT4 terminal can be run normally by selecting it from the Windows ‘Program’ menu. If it runs correctly, then try again to launch the terminal from Tickstory (while MT4 is running).
The launcher has been tested on Build 482 so I’m not sure why you are having an issue. If you continue to have problems after this, I would suggest to roll back to a version you know works and recompile your EA for that version.Regards.
in reply to: TickInfoExpert #18514Hi kiwimango,
Please check the following:
– Ensure the chart you have dragged the expert onto has incoming price quotes. MT4 will only start the expert when the first quote comes in.
– The expert does not put any visual information on the chart – all it does is produce a config file. Check the “Journal” tab for information about what it is doing and whether it has completed.Hope this helps.
in reply to: Useability – how I (want to use) TickStory #18725Hi John,
Thanks for the feedback. We’ll consider what improvements can be made for you and others that use Tickstory in this way. Would be good to receive feedback from others if this is similar to the way they work.
Regards.
Hi John,
In response to the items you mentioned:
1) I’m not sure what “menu dialog” you are referring to?
2) Tickstory only launches one instance of MT4 (unless you have Tick Data Suite installed).Thanks.
in reply to: Missing pairs #18717Hi caviarblue,
It is unfortunately not straight forward to add new symbols to MT4 as they are downloaded from the broker’s server. There is a planned enhancement to Tickstory that should allow this in the future. Here is a post which might assist you work around the issue until then:
Hope this helps.
in reply to: daylight savings #18719Hi kiwimango – not entirely sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to shift the time to the Alpari broker server timezone, I believe it is Central European Time (CET). If so, what you should simply do is select a suitable CET timezone (i.e. “GMT +1:00 Amsterdam, Rome, etc”) and perform your export. The system will automatically adjust for daylight savings whenever appropriate.
Let us know how you go.
Thanks.
in reply to: launching mt4 with tickstory lite #18718Hi gigloop,
Could you please tell us what error message you are getting? Also, what Build of MT4 are you using?
Thanks.
Hi mkperopian,
You can try copying the “terminal.exe” file from a later version MT4 installation into the MT4 Build 432 directory. If this doesn’t work, just make a full copy of the latest MT4 directory and use that instead for your back-testing.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Data is not being stored?? #18716Hi Ben,
I’m not sure how you are concluding that the system is downloading the data again. As mentioned, the downloading message is the same which is perhaps why you are mistaking it for downloading again?
If the files are there and valid, the system simply will not download them again from the Dukascopy servers. If you want to prove this conclusively, you could try disconnecting yourself from the internet while performing an export. If it is trying to download from the web, you will then receive errors.Hope this helps.
in reply to: Data is not being stored?? #18714Hi bennygill,
There is an issue when using the JForex directory location where Tickstory does not find the correct date to display (due to non-date directories existing in the path). This should not cause any operational issues however, and all your data should remain in-tact. To check this, simply browse the directory structure and see if the dates you downloaded exist. If there are *.bi5 files within each low-level directory, there is no issue and the system will not download them again.
Regards.
Hi mkeropian,
The problem is that your EA has been compiled under a different build of MT4 and the current build does not recognise it. You should be able to resolve your issue by either:
1) Recompiling your EA under the Build 432 that you have (you will need the source code to do this) or;
2) Upgrade your MT4 to the build that you know works with your EA.Regards.
in reply to: Using the Tick Data Suite with Tickstory #18711Hi tcferreira,
To use TDS, just install the product in the usual manner. When you launch from Tickstory, it will automatically detect the presence of the tds.exe file and run it if it is there.
The data exported from Tickstory is compatible with TDS, however only fixed spread exports are available from Tickstory for the moment. There is an item to add support for variable spreads in the future.Regards.
