    Hi tcferreira,

It is not necessary to leave Tickstory open. Note also there is a manual you can access by pressing F1 within Tickstory that details the back-testing procedure. It also includes video instructions that can be automatically translated into your local language.

    Regards.

    Hi tcferreira,

For the sake of those who don’t have a Microsoft account I have uploaded the screenshot (the forum has been configured to now allow larger attachments).

Looking at the MT4 error you are getting it appears to be due to not launching with Tickstory (by pressing F8). Can you confirm you have done this and no errors have been reported? Also, what version of MT4 are you using?

    Thanks.

    Hi tcferreira,

The link does not appear valid so I have removed it. Can you please upload the screenshot to the forum.

    Thanks.

    Hi lsburrows,

Tickstory does not implement any trading logic, it only exports data. The only way we can help you is you’ve identified an issue with the data itself. Otherwise, I would be checking the EA trade logic to see why it is not entering trades where you expect.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Pathfinder,

If you are referring to using the spread, lot-step settings (etc) from your “other” broker, this process is already described in detail in the manual. To bring up the manual, press the F1 key within Tickstory and read the section in the manual ‘Exporting to Metatrader: Customising MT4 export settings’.

If you are referring about how to export the same data for a new MT4 installation, then in Tickstory:

    1) Go to File->Settings->MT4 Settings and select the folder belonging to the MT4 installation of your “other” broker. Press OK.
    2) Select the symbol you wish to export and right-click and choose Export to MT4.
    3) When the export is complete, press the Launch MT4 button (or press F8).
    3) You should now be back-testing on your newly selected broker platform.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jack,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding the volume, you can format the output of the volume to whatever you choose. For your purposes, use the following custom format to output the volume:

    {BarBeginTime:yyyyMMdd},{BarBeginTime:HH:mm:ss},{Open},{High},{Low},{Close},{Volume:0}

This will format the volume as a whole number by using the specifier {Volume:0}.

Alternatively, if you just want a set number to appear, you can simply just put whatever number you like in the volume column:

    {BarBeginTime:yyyyMMdd},{BarBeginTime:HH:mm:ss},{Open},{High},{Low},{Close},1

Please refer to the section of Exporting to file in the manual for further information.

If you let us know the final custom format that works for you, it can possibly be added as a “quick pick” item in the future.

    Regards.

    Hi Kong,

Unfortunately we don’t provide support to resolve issues you are having with specific EAs. If possible, it would be best to contact the the EA author to see if they can assist.

    Hi boersun,

This feature has been implemented in 0.8.1. You can find out further information here:

    viewtopic.php?f=2&t=138

Due to the fact that it was released alongside a pressing fix, only rudimentary testing has been done. Appreciate your feedback to see if it performs as you expect.

    Regards.

in reply to: v0.8 Released! #18654

    Hi all,

The software has just been updated to v0.8.1 which includes a fix to address a launcher issue that some users were having on some platforms. Summary of added features are:

    New feature
•[TICKLITE-88] Add new timezone that supports NY trading hours (see discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=131).

    Improvement
•[TICKLITE-95] Clarified message when users could not select an MT4 folder location (see discussion: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=145).

    Fixes
•[TICKLITE-92] MT4 Launcher: Issue with launcher for some users (causing FXT to be overwritten) (see symptoms here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=142)

For the new time-zone feature, you can select the New York time-zone as the first item in the drop-down option in both the file and MT4 export screens. It appears as “EST +07:00 New York trading Hours”.

    Happy back-testing!
