    Hi Rikisher,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your contribution.

From what you describe, you are talking about duplicating the entire MT4 folder? If so, then yes, it is possibly to launch two instances however you need to also duplicate all the historical data as well which can be prohibitive. I believe the others were talking about launching the same installation of MT4 (i.e. in the same folder). If not, thanks for your suggestion as it should provide a valid workaround.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Tickroll,

Not sure what settings box you are referring to, however it sounds like you firstly need to test your internet connection by:

    1) In Tickstory, going to File->Settings and;
    2) In the Dukascopy settings, “Test” your connection by pressing the button.

If you are getting an error, this means that your internet connection is not working correctly and you will need to fix this before continuing.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Gabriele,

After Step 7) I believe if you had attempted to press the back-test button on a particular symbol that did not have its FXT marked as ‘read-only’, this file would have been deleted by MT4 as part of its normal back-testing process (which is to clear the FXT files and regenerate them).

We unfortunately have not been able to reproduce the scenario where the FXT are not marked as read-only when the corresponding option has been selected. If you must, ensure the files are always marked as read-only before commencing any back-testing.

    Hope this helps.

Another option is to relocate the Dukascopy tick data folder like so:

    1) In Tickstory, go to File->Settings and check your current Dukascopy “store folder” location. This is where Tickstory is currently saving your data.
    2) Move this folder to another location which is accessible to Tickstory such as in “My DocumentsTickstory data” or something similar.
    3) In Tickstory, go to File->Settings and select this new directory as your new store folder.

    Hi JimKits,

That’s very odd – haven’t seen that before. To resolve the issue, try this: When ‘Exporting to MT4’, select the ‘Metatrader Info’ tab and in the ‘Maps To’ field for EURUSD, enter “EURUSD.” (without the quotes – also note the period at the end).

Let us know how you go.

    Regards.

    Hi Tcferreira,

This is the value returned with the EA call:

    MarketInfo(querySymbol,MODE_STOPLEVEL);

It represents the minimum distance of your stop price when placing an order.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Tcferreira,

Most likely this error is being generated as a result of a disconnection or slowness in your Internet connection. I would try exporting again once this is resolved.

    Hi Eyagan,

The “ask volume” as defined by Dukascopy is “Volume available at the best ask price on the market” and the “bid volume” is the “Volume available at the best bid price on the market”. Tickstory provides the sum of these two values for any given tick. This number is then summed for every bar (1m, 5m, etc).

To answer your question, it is not possible to calculate the lots traded on a bar because there is no such information available regarding what was traded in an FX market. All you effectively have in the information is the level of volume /”activity” within that bar – that is, how much volume was available at a given time on both the bid and offer through the prices that constituted that candle. So in your tick volume example, if you add both bid and ask volumes throughout that candle, you should get the volume that is being exported.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi rp75,

Given that you are have posted follow-up questions about the exporting of data, I assume you have solved your issue? If not, please provide further details so we can assist.

    Thanks.

in reply to: time zone #19416

    Hi rp75,

If your EA is using pure GMT with no daylight savings, it is probably best to export in the GMT time-zone. Obviously when you run your EA live, you will need to adjust your EA time-zone parameters accordingly for your broker’s timezone.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Lukemp3,

You are correct – multiple launches of different MT4 installations will be addressed in a future version.

    Regards.
