in reply to: Translation / Language #19040
Hi Costalomo,
Thanks for your feedback. We would definitely appreciate if you are able to refine the Spanish translations for us. If you can PM us your details we can send the translation information to you.
In the mean-time, it is possible to delete the “es” directory in the Tickstory installation folder if you wish to disable the Spanish translations until they are updated.
Kind regards.

in reply to: Rookie question on "volume" #19412Hi Eyagan,
The numbers are expressed in millions, so hence the fractional amounts. The volumes are summed for each bar, so hence the rather “odd” looking fractional volumes.
A standard lot in Dukascopy is 1m, so effectively it is showing the number of contracts on the bid & ask. Of course, depending on your own broker’s contract size, you would need to adjust it accordingly.
Not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but just be mindful that the volume data obtained from Dukascopy is specific to their trading platform. I would be restricting any dependence on these values to merely monitoring momentum changes assuming your goal is to develop a trading strategy with this information.Hope this helps.
in reply to: Tick-Volume #19092Hi Eyagan,
The numbers are expressed in millions, so hence the fractional amounts. The volumes are summed for each bar, so hence the rather “odd” looking fractional volumes.
As Trickster mentioned, the MT4 concept of volume is actually the number of ticks in the bar, so we may be changing this soon to default to this type of volume (we’ll provide an option for those who are using the current concept of volume).Hope this helps.
in reply to: Automating downloading of data #19410Hi Bluebox,
Thanks for your feedback and your suggestion. We are planning such a feature in the revamped version of Tickstory which should be able to satisfy this requirement.
Hope this helps!
in reply to: MT4/tickstory/TDS #19394Hi Gabriele,
Just to add to Experienced_tester’s helpful response, please note that if you prematurely stop an export then Tickstory does not have the opportunity to fully complete the process – this means it will not mark the data as read-only, nor will the exported data be complete/usable.
Regarding your question about why data is deleted, just a bit of background for you: MT4 does not natively support the use of tick data. Whenever you do a back-test, the first thing it does is delete the existing FXT files and freshly generates it from the historical data center. Unfortunately the most granular data stored in the historical data center is 1-minute data. This is where the Tickstory export and launcher comes in: When you generate the tick data in Tickstory, it creates FXT files with accurate tick data. The launcher then prevents MT4 from deleting these files. If you don’t start MT4 via the launcher and the files are not marked as ‘read-only’, then the FXT files will be deleted.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: lost FXT files #19168Hi Experienced_tester,
Thanks for confirming the details. We’re obviously asking some questions to ensure there’s nothing elementary going wrong here – we haven’t seen the behaviour you are describing before. It would be unusual for it to be related to the .NET Framework installation, but we’ll wait for your update on this.
Regarding the 2GB limit, we have reports that MT4 have extended this to 4GB although we haven’t yet confirmed this ourselves. Please refer to this thread for more:
Hope this helps.
in reply to: lost FXT files #19166Hi Experienced_tester,
Just to let you know that we have done further tests on this to try export the data to a USB stick in a similar setup that you have described. Unfortunately we are still unable to reproduce the issue you are reporting – the files are correctly marked as ‘read-only’. Can you please try export to a “vanilla” MT4 installation on your local hard drive and see if you have any issues?
Also, looking at your screenshots it appears that you have your MT4 terminal running – are you sure the export was performed successfully and that MT4 didn’t have the files locked? You would have received an error during the export if so.Thanks.
in reply to: backtest stops immediatly upon starting #19288Hi Janko,
Yes, it is mandatory to launch MT4 from Tickstory otherwise it will not use the tick data correctly and you will encounter errors.
REgards.
in reply to: stopout mode/stopout level #19405Hi Ninjaturtle,
These parameters are best explained in the MT4 manual:

in reply to: How can I launch MT4 in command line? #19404Hi Jarl,
Have you managed to get 99.9% back-tests by following the ‘normal’ process? If so, it may be that replacing the FXT file in the Init() function doesn’t work.
Thanks.
in reply to: another suggestion #19384Hi Gooly,
The launcher is compulsory if you wish to use tick data. Without it, MT4 simply generates test data from the ‘history’ (HST) data files which usually contain 1-minute data.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Don’t delete correct existing fxt when exporting #19343Hi Don,
Not sure if it’s possible to keep the same MT4 terminal offline and online at the same time. You can certainly do this by making another copy of the MT4 terminal folder.
Regrding speed of back-testing, here is a topic that you can have further discussion on:

in reply to: How can I launch MT4 in command line? #19402Hi Jarl,
Thanks for your suggestion. At the moment Tickstory doesn’t allow launching directly from the command-line. We are considering this as a future feature.
The suggestion you made regarding copying the FXT file is a good one. Obviously it only applies to those users who have access to the EA code. Perhaps you can let us know how you go with this?
Thanks!
