in reply to: Which Build? #19941
Hi Oasisfan,
To get you started up, you can try using an older Build 432 which you can download here:
http://www.tickstory.com/files/MetaTrader432.7z
This version should not auto-update so it should be at least good enough to get you going (and familiar with the process) without having to deal with the constant flux of MT4 updates. Also, if you haven’t done so already, this video outlines the basics of setting up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-rMOen4UHg.
Unfortunately we cannot bundle the Dukascopy data as their licensing terms do not allow this.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Multiple Tickstory Installations #19944Hi Trader2384,
This feature is planned in the next major version of Tickstory.
Regards.
in reply to: Determing Maximum Date Range #19953Hi Trader2384,
Check out the following post for the date ranges Dukascopy currently makes available for their traded instruments:
regards.
in reply to: 2012-2013 Data #19931Hi Trader2384,
Could you please give the exact date range you are after and which bars are a problem? Note that if you are filtering weekends (as in the case of 28th July 2012) then perhaps this is why you are not getting the bars you expect?
Thanks.
in reply to: Tick-Volume #19094Hi Berty,
The tick volume that is published is still as described above – that is, it uses the volume traded as oppose to the number of ticks. All data originates from Dukascopy.
We still have an open enhancement item to change the MT4 export so it exports the tick activity rather than volume.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: v1.4 Released! #19908Hi Donlabin,
You can add this suggestion in the “New Features and suggestion” section if you like, however note that there are workarounds already available such as Birt’s Tick Data Suite (http://cd710nh5qn5ax84ol4ncpnfp99.hop.clickbank.net/ Disclosure: Affiliate link). I believe you can also simply rename the MT4 directory where MT4 downloads updates as this also suppresses the auto-update behaviour. If someone has detailed a proven procedure, it would be appreciated if they could share.
Regards.
in reply to: v1.4 Released! #19906Hi DudaoRJ,
Yes, unfortunately the new MT4 Builds are auto-updating themselves without any confirmation from the user. I believe there are methods (read: hacks) that allow you to suppress the automated update behaviour. If you wish to go down this path, Google is your best bet!
Kind regards.
in reply to: 2012-2013 Data #19928Hi Trader2384,
We are unfortunately unable to test specific EAs for you. If you are having data/back-testing issues, we recommend you test with some of the basic EAs that are bundled with MT4 such as “MACD Sample”.
Also check to see if the data you have exported correctly appears in the MT4 History Center. If you are having issues that seem to relate to the data export, then please post the full details so we can try reproduce the issue.Thanks.
in reply to: Error 4051 #19926Hi Alextc,
Error 4501 denotes a bad function parameter. Try referring to this post on the MQL forums that may assist further:
Hope this helps.
in reply to: v1.4 Released! #19902Hi Tony,
You appear to have asked this question before. Did the post here: http://www.tickstory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=354 solve the issue?
This error is usually due to not having exported data to the correct MT4 symbol name.
It can also occur if you have not selected the correct “Data directory” in your MT4 setup. TO check this, go to Metatrader and select File->Open Data folder. The folder location that comes up should be the same folder you configure as the ‘Data folder’ within Tickstory.Hope this helps.
in reply to: D1/H4 mismatch #19865Hi scfx,
The bars you are missing are probably due to the “Filter weekend” setting being checked. Can you uncheck and see if that resolves your issue?
Thanks.
in reply to: Error: The operation has timed out #19894Hi there – if you are getting 51% modelling quality it means that you have missed a step somewhere. Make sure you launch MT4 by using the Tickstory launcher (press F8 in Tickstory). This ensures that MT4 uses the Tickstory exported files rather than overwrite them with its own. You will need to generate your export files again because it appears MT4 has overwritten them.
Have a view of this video which should assist you with the basics:

Hope this helps.
in reply to: Remote Support (Please) #19848That could make sense. It could be that the back-tester scans through the entire dataset regardless of the start time and only begins running the EA after the start date is encountered.
in reply to: Error: The operation has timed out #19890Hi GFB,
The error sounds like there is something slow with your internet connection. Make sure you are not downloading too many symbols at a time. it is also possible that other applications are using lots of bandwidth causing this issue.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: v1.4 Released! #19899Hi Radu,
That is correct. We’ve got an enhancement on our todo list to save the last export settings so hopefully this will solve the issue for you.
Regards.
