in reply to: mt4 uses last know spread of broker #20925
Hi Trevone,
You are correct – there are some changes that have been made in the latest version to utilise the spread setting in the strategy tester. This feature may be argued by some to be quite useful since you no longer need to edit the spread values in the FXT. Can you explain further how this is affecting you so we can see if there’s a workaround?
Thanks.
in reply to: FXT is being used by another process #19614Hi FMIC,
Thanks for your report. If you are able to outline the steps you took to cause this issue then we’ll try reproduce it on our end. At the moment, the only way we know this could happen is if an export currently in progress (eg. via another instance of Tickstory).
Thanks.
in reply to: Backtest without result (trades) #20916Hi Nico,
There could be many reasons for the EA not trading and only looking at the logs and/or code might give you more hints about why trades aren’t occurring. If either is unavailable, you might try tweaking your EA parameters in such a way that it would be inclined to trade (increasing the spread threshold, for example) and then work backwards to see which parameter is causing your issue. Also check your back-test period and time-frame as some EAs do not trade with sufficient data and/or in certain time-frames. In some cases, the EA might give more information if you test it in ‘Visual mode’ as some display vital information on the chart itself.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Data error while downloading #20920Hi Erick,
Would you know why the data directory mentioned in the error is continually changing? Are you changing these settings or working under some sort of virtualised environment?
If none of the above apply, could you please re-try downloading the same date ranges again to see if you get the error? Usually this problem is caused by missing/corrupt data and whenever Tickstory encounters the problem it automatically recovers by re-downloading the data. This means the next time you attempt to export the same data, you should not see this error. Please let us know.
Thanks.

Could you also please email your registration/order details we could not find your registered email in our orders.

in reply to: v1.6 Released! #20783Hi 4EverMaat,
At the moment we are focusing on improving the database functionality of Tickstory so you can streamline your exports. We may look to embedding variable spread information in the nearer term so if you have TDS you can at least use Tickstory to perform the export.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: v1.6 Released! #20781Hi Electrofx – many thanks for your support and feedback!
Hi Bogola – good to hear your EA is rocking 😉 Could you please elaborate what you mean “broker dots per currency pair”? (P.S. We may create a separate/new post if the thread needs to continue.)
Regards.
in reply to: FXT file error message #20915Hi Xplorfx,
Could you please tell me the full error message? Is it just saying that the file is “read-only”? If so, this is only a notification/warning and doesn’t affect your back-test. If it’s saying that the file is missing, just check that when you “Export to MT4“, that the FXT folder location in the bottom of the box is the same location you mentioned in your post. If not, you will need to go to File->Settings and make you you have selected the correct Metatrader install folder (which usually is somewhere in C:Program Files (x86)).
Hope this helps.
in reply to: TickStory Lite v1.6 download link doesn’t work #20912Hi JFairtrader,
Could you please email us your order details and/or email address (we can’t find any order with your forum email address) so we can follow this up? Usually the link will expire within 7 days, I assume that this is not the case?
Thanks.

in reply to: MT4 Launcher issue on Windows 7 #20884Hello Pedrosimao,
Please let us know the following:
1) Are you using Tickstory v1.6 and have you applied your license in Help->About?
2) Are you using MT4 Build 840?
3) If you answered ‘yes’ to 1), please check your File->Settings and ensure you have the correct installation folder selected for Metatrader (which usually is in c:Program Files (x86)).Thanks.
in reply to: imported data does not match historical #20909Hi Master_dude,
Let’s try to tackle one problem at a time. First step is to ensure you resolve this “404” error you are getting. Go to File->Settings and in the Dukascopy Datasource tab and click the “Test” button. If this is not successful, there is something wrong with your internet connection that you will need to resolve before you can download data.
Once this is resolved, whatever Dukascopy Store Folder you have selected, the data will reside in this location. I am not sure how TickDataDownloader stores data, but Tickstory stores data in Dukascopy’s native highly-compressed binary format. If the data already exists, Tickstory will simply use it. If not, it will download it.
Regarding your issue with your exported date ranges – make sure you are not connected to your broker, otherwise it is likely that the broker will override your exported data.Hope this helps.
