    Hi all,

A new Ninjatrader video has just been uploaded. This video demonstrates how Ninjatrader users can get free historical data into their platform. See here for more:

Stay tuned for more… until then, happy trading! 😉

    Hi Pipperoni,

This is on the list to investigate further. If others also find this useful and vote up, then this would make things more compelling.

    Regards.

Hi – unfortunately this is not a good solution as it could cause infinite hangs/loops. If there is a problem with your connection, the best bet is to resolve this first. Bear in mind that once you have successfully downloaded the data, it will not need to be downloaded again.
    Regards.

    Hi Buillnbearthailand,

Unfortunately we don’t provide support for EAs. You can refer to the MT4 forums for trouble-shooting “not enough money” errors.
You only need to export the data once from Tickstory for any specific time period.

    Regards.

That’s great to hear. If there is a lot of data to process and/or your computer is slow. this could happen. Most importantly you are getting the results you need.

Hi – can you please make sure “Use dates” and “visual mode” are unchecked and try again? Are you getting any errors in your Journal tab?

    Thanks.

Hi – Can you please screenshot what error you are getting. Have you:

    1) Exported your data to MT4.
    2) Pressed F8 to launch Tickstory
    3) Pressed the Strategy Tester “Start” button and viewed your results?

At which stage is it failing and what error are you getting? As mentioned on another thread, the following messages are not errors but informational messages:

    – “No official support for this future and it could stop working with future version of mt4”
    – TestGenerator: actual tick file “C:Program Files (x86)MetaTrader 4 IC MarketstesterhistoryEURUSD15_0.fxt” found

Check your Strategy Tester report – what modelling quality percentage are you getting?

    Thanks.

Hi – Tickstory does retry at least 3 times. If you see it continue on (i.e. the progress indicator keeps moving along) then it has successfully recovered from the error.

Hi Buillnbearthailand, this is not an error. It is just a notification. Once you press “OK” everything operates as usual.

    Hi Wp00000008,

It is possible that these errors sometimes occur when downloading, although not typically the same one. When you replace the file that was last attached in your Data Store location, do you still get an error? If not, then you are fine to continue.

    Regards.
P.S. I have taken the liberty to hide your email address – I would suggest you suppress your email address in further posts to prevent any harvesting of your details for spam.

    Hi Wp00000008,

Thanks for your nice feedback. We have tried downloading the same date & time and have had no issues. Attached is the data file you mention – it’s around 10kb in size. Could you please try replacing this data file with the one you have in the corresponding Data Store location (your Dukascopy Datastore location is specified in File->Settings in Tickstory). Hopefully this will resolve the immediate issue. If you continue to get other errors, the only thing that I can think of is that you may have an intermittent internet connection that is dropping out occasionally. Usually re-downloading the same date range resolves the issue.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Phil09,

There’s a big difference between the two data sets and you can expect big differences in trade results. For one, you could have had (say) a spread of 1 pip when you initially back-tested, causing many trades to trigger in your EA. Subsequently, the spread could have been set at say 3 pips, causing your EA not to trade. Of course, this is all dependent on your EA and what it does and how it trades. My advice would just be to work forward from here because 99% modelling quality is going to be much more accurate than your previous tests.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Traderkk,

We’re not exactly why this error is appearing so please let us investigate and get back to you.

Regarding your question – If you are simply exporting data to file then this is available on the free version. We are endeavouring to keep these features free going forward. Of course, the paid version will start featuring a host of extras that are well worth the price.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Phil09,

    Taken from the FAQ:

    Q. I am not getting 99.9% modelling quality on my back-tests or;
    My MT4 back-test reports that the modeling quality is “N/A” or;
My MT4 back-test reports “TestGenerator: internal error because file not opened”

    A. This problem is typically due MT4 not utilising your exported data correctly. Check the following:

    • Ensure you have launched your MT4 terminal via the Tickstory ‘Launch MT4’ option (press F8 when in Tickstory to do this).
    • Ensure you have exported your MT4 database to the correct location (make sure you have selected the correct server if there are multiple selections). For example, if you have a “Demo” and “Real” account, make sure you are exporting to the same one you are using for back-testing, otherwise the data will not be visible to MT4.
    • If applicable, ensure you have correctly mapped the Tickstory symbol name (eg. EURUSD) to the MT4 equivalent symbol name (eg. EURUSDm, fcmEURUSD, etc). (See the manual or search the forum for more on this topic: search.php?keywords=maps+to&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all).

Hopefully this helps resolve the issue.

    Regards.

in reply to: v1.6 Released! #20795

    Hi Alextc,

We’ve justed out the license code you were sent and have had no issues with it. Can you please ensure you do not have any spaces at the beginning or end of the license code when entering it. If you are still having issues, can you please PM us a screenshot of what you are seeing?

    Thanks.
