Could you please ran the standard “MACD Sample” and try again? It appears the “wrong bars count” message is coming from your EA.

    Thanks.

    Hi Fx-strategie,

As per our discussion offline, your EA appears to be working fine when run in the strategy tester. You should have the information you need to continue.

    Regards.

    Hi Vohanh,

I’m not sure what you are looking for, however in your screenshot you clearly have “TickstoryInfoExpert” visible in your Metatrader ‘Navigator’ which means everything is working fine. Simply drag the TickstoryInfoExpert icon onto a live chart and this will activate it.

    Regards.

    Hi Hir0406,

It sounds like there is some sort of internet connectivity issue on your end if you’re getting “The remote name could not be resolved”. In Tickstory, please go to File->Settings->Dukascopy Datasource and try ‘Test’ your configuration. If you are still getting the same error, try see if you can browse to the Dukascopy website in your internet browser.

Regarding the MT4 message, you will note that this is not an error message – it is merely informing you that the tick file was successfully found.

    Regards.

    Hi Vohanh,

Perhaps you can show some screenshots of your configuration including:

    1) Your Tickstory MT4 Settings (In Tickstory, select File->Settings->MT4 Settings).
    2) Your Metatrader Experts Folder (In MT4, select File->Open Data folder and then double-click on “MQL” and then”‘Experts”).
    3) Your MT4 Terminal, including the contents of the Navigation window showing the “Experts” you have installed.

If you are testing EAs, it is the same procedure to install the TickstoryInfoExpert as it is to install any other EA. Are you able to confirm you have been able to install another EA to your MT4 installation without any issue?

    Thanks.

    Hi Vohanh,

In Tickstory, select any instrument and “Export to MT4”. In the “Help” tab you will see a “Deploy” button which will automatically install the Tickstory EA. Press it and once the EA has been deployed, restart your MT4. You should then see “TickstoryInfoExpert” listed in your EAs.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Don,

Thanks for the further information. Just to reiterate, Tickstory itself performs no calculations itself. It merely exports data that the Strategy Tester then uses – including the commission information. The only changes v1.6 and v1.7 that could potentially affect your results is that v1.7 exports tick count as the volume (as opposed to traded volumes). Unless your EA is dependent on volume, this shouldnt be the cause. From your assessment that both EAs are trading at the same time, this seems to imply that the data itself isn’t the cause of your differences.

One of the variables therefore is likely to be the “MT4 Settings” that your brother and you are using. You can check this in the FXT Editor and open the FXT file in the timeframe you are back-testing in. Are the details on the file (including commissions) exactly the same?

The other variable could be the MT4 Build you are using. Although we are not aware of any recent changes to the Strategy Tester calculations, if you do have different builds, it would be advisable to baseline to the same version.

Thirdly, it could be that there are some broker parameter differences between the two MT4 accounts you are comparing. Again, if you are still having the issues after trying the above, it would be good to ensure that you are using the same broker.

    Regarding your questions:

    1) As mentioned above, no changes in commission parameters. If you check the FXT files and they don’t match, then you need to ensure that you change them to match and “Save as Default”.

    2) This is possible, although we have had no knowledge or reports of this. What Build are you using?

    3) As above.

    4) You can revert back to v1.6, however this would deny you of benefiting from any future updates we do. I’d prefer to see that this issue is resolved for you.

Please let us know how you go.

    Thanks.

    Hi Vohanh,

Please run your MT4 once and log into the demo account once. This will download necessary information from the broker.
After this, Tickstory should locate the information it is looking for to validate the folder.

    Regards.

    Hi Don,

Yes, you can set your commission settings in the MT4 Settings dialog although this is not a feature specific to v1.7 – all calculations are done by the MT4 Strategy Tester.
The following thread explains the settings a little further:

    viewtopic.php?f=4&t=415

The actual deductions are not shown in the Strategy Tester in a separate column but instead are incorporated into the final P/L.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi all,

We’ve managed to replicate the issue on a terminal, however there is no apparent issue with the data as far as we can see. The market info information (eg. lot size) information seems to be correct and returning a valid value from the strategy tester. It appears that others have come across this issue as well and it has been logged with Metatrader here: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/64418.
Hopefully there will be a resolution shortly. The only workaround we know of in the interim is to roll back your MT4 Build to 840 (see link below) or try the suggestions mentioned in this thread.

    Link to Build 840:

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Pandion,

Thanks for the config info, however for some reason the SP500 instrument you are working with still did not appear in the list.
We have tried to replicate the problem under an XM.COM terminal which has the instrument “US500-DEC15” but had no issues. Attached is a screenshot of the native broker settings for this terminal. Perhaps you can try copying the settings verbatim and seeing if it resolves the issue. Otherwise, maybe you can use the XM terminal first to narrow down the issue.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Pandion,

We’ve loaded the ActivTrades and can’t see any symbol called Usa500Dec15. Could you go to Files->Open Data Folder in Metatrader and zip up your “config” folder and send us the zip file via PM?

    Thanks.

    Hi Dunkunkie,

Do you have some screenshots about what you are seeing? Are you using a cent account?

    Thanks.
