This brief guide is designed to get you quickly working with Advanced Tester and perform your first back-test. Please consult the sections below for each step of the process.
1.In The MT4 Terminals tab, click on the Add Terminal button. 2.Specify the location of your Metatrader Installation. For example C:\Program Files (x86)\Metatrader 4, After selecting a valid MT4 installation, some of your terminal details will be automatically populated. Edit any other details as you require and press OK. The new terminal will be added to the main list. 3.Start the new terminal by pressing the Start Terminal button. This will start Metatrader, ready for back-testing. The Ready for Testing tab will be highlighted with the new instance of Metatrader. |
1.In the Ready for Testing tab, ensure the newly running MT4 terminal is selected. 2.Adjust your advanced back-test settings such as Leverage, Variable Spread and Slippage. 3.(Optional) If you wish to test with real tick data and spreads and have 99.9% modeling quality results, export your test symbol's data using Tickstory. You only need to do this once for each symbol and historical dates you wish to test with. |
1.In your Metatrader 4 terminal, select View > Strategy Tester. Review all your Expert Advisor, Period/Timeframe, Symbol and Date settings and then press the Start button. 2.Once your test has completed, you can review the report in the corresponding Strategy Tester tabs. If you were using tick data for your test, your report modeling quality should display 99.9%. Congratulations on completing your first test with the Advanced Tester! |
