in reply to: Error inspecting data #19377
Hi sym,
Can you provide further information about how this error occurred?
Thanks.
in reply to: Using the Tick Data Suite with Tickstory #18713Hi Iwillsurvive – no more progress since yesterday when you last asked 😉
Suffice to say that we have a number of enhancements that are planned ahead of this at the moment.
We’ll keep your original thread updated as any news comes about:

Kind regards.
in reply to: please enable the start of mt4 several times #19364Hi Gooly,
FYI, your request is discussed here as well:
At the moment if you have Birt’s Tick Data Suite (TDS) installed then you can already do this. We have put an item to look at potentially adding this feature in the future.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: may be s.th. for you to check? #19360Hi Gooly,
Regarding the Tickstory launcher and TDS, the assumption is that if you have TDS installed it is preferable to use this as it provides a few additional features. Is there any reason why you need the Tickstory launcher to work instead?
With regards to the USB file-locking, are you running your MT4 from the USB disk as well? If so, that’s more than likely the culprit. If not, then why don’t you simply try exiting Tickstory and see if that rectifies your issue? You do not need to keep Tickstory running during your optimisation. To answer your question, Tickstory should not be locking any of the files on your disk once it has completed the export. You can file a utility called ‘Who Lock Me’ on the web which should tell you which process has a particular file open. I think we’ve already discussed this here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=221
Hope this helps.
Hi Gooly,
We get your drift – more logging information. Given that we’re working on a new version with many more features, we’ll be looking for a more “centralised” place to put informative messages.
Thanks for your suggestions!
in reply to: download need recover network error #19344Hi Raidsan,
If I understood the post correctly, you would like Tickstory to retry in the event of a download failure. It already does this – it makes 3 attempts to download before stopping.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: backtester always needs fresh tickdata download #19355Thanks for letting us know, Ninjaturtle.

Hi Iwillsurvive,
The answer is 1) – Tickstory only exports a fixed spread for the time-being, although we do have the support for variable spread on our enhancement list. For the moment, the only way to achieve what you want is to export to File using ‘CSV2FXT’ format and then produce the file using Birt’s scripts.
Hope this helps.
Hi TealC,
At the moment it is only possible to launch a single instance of MT4 via Tickstory. It is possible (but currently a bit cumbersome) to launch two MT4s from separate directories. You just need to change the MT4 terminal in the settings.
We are planning a future version that streamlines this process a bit more.Hope this helps.
in reply to: Tickstory Data On Live Account? #19348@trader2384 wrote:
Thanks for the response. What would be the problem with overwriting current data on the live account? Isn’t the Tickstory data more accurate?
Thanks again
Hi Trader2384,
There are a few reasons why people may want their live historical data – most notably, some people collect the broker data so they can be guaranteed that their tests will more accurately reflect their trading with that broker.
Of course, if you have no such requirement then the caveat does not apply to you.Hope this helps.
in reply to: please enable the start of mt4 several times #19362Hi Gooly,
Thanks for the suggestion. The revamped version of Tickstory will include a concept of multiple “databases” which should permit this by allowing you to set up multiple MT4 directories.
Regards.
in reply to: Adding recent tick data #18812Hi there,
Yes, agreed that it would definitely be useful to simply extend the MT4 files to include the latest data and we are working on this feature. As for multiple data ranges, we should be able to support something similar to what you describe as we develop the next major version of Tickstory.
Thank you both for your feedback.
in reply to: Don’t delete correct existing fxt when exporting #19341Hi Don,
Tickstory does not mark/unmark HST files as read-only – only FXT. Your HST files should in theory not change as long as you are not connected to your broker. If you are connected to your broker, you are likely to get various problems since the HST and FXT files no longer match up.
Once you have successfully generated your HST & FXT files via Tickstory, as long as your MT4 is offline you should be able to repeatedly do the same test (even after restarting your MT4 terminal) and obtain the same result. If this is not the case, then something else is modifying your files.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Real and historical graphs are different.. spread? #19303Hi Fdanilo,
We have done some further testing including creating a “pure” time-zone shift of +1 hour and it still doesn’t match with what your broker is showing.
Do you have the specific minute that the two graphs go out-of-sync? Are you able to post a screenshot of this? Thanks.
in reply to: Issue with leverage #19313Hi Render,
Are you able to manually edit this value? We will add an item to automatically calculate this in the future, however for the moment it is user-specified.
Thanks.
