Hi Agora,
I’m not sure why one folder would be visible in the Program Files folder and not the other unless it is hidden (Right-click in Windows Explorer and check to see if the ‘Hidden’ property is set). Note that you can manually override the HST and FXT export folder locations as a temporary workaround (although it’s obviously preferable to use the selection box).
As for the data folder, unless you are manually specifying this during the export process (as described above), then you should not need to change anything here. Tickstory automatically detects the valid data folder and only if you choose to run in portable mode you should need to change this.
Finally, are you sure that the HST/FXT files do not exist? If Tickstory cannot write to the designated location it should be giving an error.
Hope this helps.
Hi Ratsh,
Many thanks for your comprehensive post. We are aware of the fact that Amibroker is very flexible and can handle different formats. In the future we hope to create a data provider that can feed Amibroker through its plug-in architecture. Until then, we are trying to “support” Amibroker by making it as simple as possible for users to import data with the minimal amount of effort (that is, using Amibroker’s default import definitions where possible). Of course, more advanced users will find your information highly invaluable.
Thanks!
in reply to: Modeling N/A #20284Hi Scott,
It’s very important to follow the steps described in this video to get things going:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-rMOen4UHg
It’s important that MT4 is launched via Tickstory otherwise you will have the problems you described. MT4 does not natively support the use of tick data so the ‘launch’ step tweaks MT4 so it uses the Tickstory exported data correctly. Also, make sure you have configured the ‘MT4 Settings’ correctly in Tickstory’s File->Settings menu. If your MT4 export/data folder does not match the folder location shown by selecting File->Open Data Folder in your MT4 terminal, then you will also have the issue you describe.
To simplify things, just try export one symbol for the time being (such as EURUSD) so you get the hang of things. You can get further help in the manual to check the presence of various files (such as the FXT files) that MT4 needs for the back-testing procedure.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Modeling N/A #20282Hi Scott,
We’ve done further checks to see if we can reproduce the problem you’re having. We thought there may have been a recent MT4 change that is causing the issue but this doesn’t appear to be the case. The only time we see the ‘n/a’ modelling quality is when:
1) MT4 was not launched via Tickstory launcher
2) MT4 is not using the Tickstory exported files. Reasons for this can include:
a) Incorrect data folder was specified in the Tickstory Settings->MT4 Settings (the Data folder should match MT4 File->Open Data Folder location)
b) You are trying to back-test in a particular time-frame (eg. M1), but have not exported this time-frame in the Tickstory export dialog (i.e. FXT M1 should be checked).Generally speaking when you see the a modelling quality of ‘n/a’ this means that MT4 is not correctly using the Tickstory exported files.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: No data for testing #20130If you are able to provide more detailed information we may be able to assist. See above for some useful information you could provide to help us identify the issue.
in reply to: Error Bid or Profit @@? #20291Hi JiangChris,
We have checked out the data using the Tickstory Chart feature and plotted the range from 9th September 2010 to 11th September 2010 for EURUSD and do not see the data you show. Please check your MT4 History Center and also try export the data to CSV file to manually check it. It could be that your data is corrupted in some way or failed to download for those dates. If so, just use the “Download data” feature for this date range to see if it fixes the problem.
The maximum FXT file size should be 4GB.
Regards.
Hi Gooly,
Tickstory attempts to work as per the “spec” of MT4’s directory structure. That is, it firstly checks the roaming directories and within these directories it has a “origin.txt” which contains the actual program folder of MT4. Of course, if this is not valid, then this would be throwing things out. For the moment the “lowest touch” way of resolving the issue should be to rename the origin.txt file in the ..AppDataRoamingMetaQuotesTerminalF3FCE634953CAFEE1AF7E348742EF8CB folder (or deleting it) so Tickstory ignores this directory and instead checks the installation folder to see if everything is there.
We’ll try to work on a suitable method of relaxing some of the checks that are done for validating an install (or perhaps warning the user), but generally speaking the checks are doing what they are designed to do.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: FXT file not found and no data for testing. #20294Hi Veztys,
The first question is whether you exported the FXT into the location that MT4 is looking? Make sure the FXT exists in the specified location before starting the back-test.
Hope this helps.
Hi Gooly,
It’s currently not possible to use command-line parameters with Tickstory although thanks for the suggestion. We have noted a similar suggestion previously made in the “New features/suggestions” section.
Regards.
Hi Alasdeaguila,
I’m not exactly clear what you are trying to do, but if you are trying to use Tickstory on multiple VMs then you can:
1) Zip the Tickstory program directory (eg. C:Program FilesTickstory)
2) Zip the datastore location (eg. C:DataDukascopy)
3) Copy and unpack the data in the respective locations on the new machine.Hope this answers your question.
in reply to: "Tickstory has stopped working" #20297Hi Jorabi,
Sounds good. If you would like to donate via PayPal, press the ‘Donate’ button in the Tickstory application and the details will pop up for you.
Many thanks.
in reply to: error se excedió el tiempo descarga #20271Hi Oscarpat,
Unfortunately we don’t speak Spanish and would appreciate any posts be put in English. We’ve translated your error message and it says “An error occurred during the download wait time was exceeded Operation”. This seems to suggest that there is some sort of delay while trying to download data. First test is to go to File->Settings in Tickstory an press the ‘Test’ button in the Dukascopy datasource tab. If this passes, then the next thing to make sure is that you are not trying to download too much data at once as your provider and/or Dukascopy may be throttling you.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Tick data inspection #20301Sorry, I see what you’re saying. The inspector is only showing the Bid price as the ‘Close’ for the moment. The only workaround at this point is to export the range you want via the ‘File export’ feature. We’ll note this as a future enhancements.
in reply to: "Tickstory has stopped working" #20295Hi Jorabi,
Your error seems to suggest that a problem is occurring in a program called IdentityCloaker (ICProxy64.DLL). You might want to try suspending/uninstalling this program and see if you still have the problem.
Thanks.
in reply to: No data for testing #20128If your EA is not opening trades then this is not the same issue being discussed. I would suggest that you try running the standard “MACD Sample” and if that is working okay, then there is some issue that needs to be resolved with your EA. Note that some EAs are sensitive to spread, etc so make sure you have cross-checked your export settings to ensure some condition/parameter is not stopping your EA from trading.
Hope this helps.
