in reply to: Change Data Folder #20601
Hi Trader2384,
Unfortunately a single MT4 installation allows you to use a single data folder location. This means to achieve what you want you would firstly need to install multiple copies of MT4, each with it’s own data. As for Tickstory, it currently only allows a single MT4 installation to be defined at the moment which means you will need to change it when you change back-testing terminals. Multiple terminal support is a feature we are working on.
Hope this helps.
in reply to: Bug in Tickstory HST generation #20564Hi RV13,
We assume that you have now resolved the issue. If not, could you kindly get back to us with the above-mentioned details?
Thanks.
in reply to: Support for Strategy Quant #20609Hi Tomas,
You should be able to export the format you described by using the following custom format in Tickstory (make sure your Timeframe is set to ‘Tick’):
{Timestamp:yyyy.MM.dd} {Timestamp:HH:mm:ss.fff},{BidPrice},{AskPrice},{BidVolume},{AskVolume}Let us know if this does the trick so we can put a note to add this as a pre-defined format.
Regards.
in reply to: Set up OK but EA error #20600Hi Vidagig,
The error you have displayed on your screenshot relates to the fact that you have not enabled DLL calls in your MT4 configuration. Once you correct this (please consult the MT4 manual if you’re not sure) it will resolve the two red ‘x”s in your log.
Regards.
in reply to: 1.01% quality #20594Hi Hir0406,
Please take the time to read our FAQ (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=613) and also search the forum as many of your questions have been answered already. If you have tried a particular solution then please outline what you have done so we can rule out common responses.
Thanks.
in reply to: MT4 BUILD 465 #20599Hi,
Are you back-testing with the standard ‘MACD Sample’ EA to make sure everything is working?
Another thing to mention is that you are connected to your broker and will probably run into issues with your MT4 terminal overwriting HST data that comes from your broker rather than Tickstory.P.S. Note also that the location of the HST and FXT files are different. Make sure you check the tester/history directory that all the FXT files are there.
in reply to: MT4 BUILD 465 #20598in reply to: No more data in MT4 then last 3 months #20595Hi MagicTrader,
Check the following immediately after your export:
– In MT4, go to File->Data Folder and then browse to ‘history’. Now firstly check that the server folder you next click on matches the server you are shown when starting MT4 (eg. “FXCM Demo”).
– Browse to this server folder and check the dates on the HST files are today’s date.
– OPen the MT4 history center and see if the symbol & dates are the same as you have exported. If not, it is likely that your MT4 terminal is overwriting the data and using your broker’s instead. If this is the case you will need to disconnect your terminal by not logging on.Hope this helps.
in reply to: Support for Strategy Quant #20607Hi Tomas – could you please elaborate? What type of support is required? If there is a specific file format, would you have a excerpt of the expected formatting?
Thanks.
in reply to: 1.01% quality #20592Hi Hir0406,
Thanks for the further detail – it is always helpful to us when describing the problem. From what I can see the ‘n/a’ modelling quality seems to be still using the correct data. The green bar and the number of ticks modelled is a good indication that you’ve got tick-quality data. Regardless, it appears that you are also now getting 99.99% quality which is what you’re after.
Regards.
in reply to: 1.01% quality #20590Hi Hir0406 – have you consulted the manual to get up and running? This video also goes through the high-level steps to get going:

When you launch MT4 it initially should have a title bar saying “Metatrader with Tickstory Launcher”.
To check that you have written your files to the correct place, go to MT4 and select File->Open Data folder and then browse into the tester/history folder. You should then see a range of .FXT files written which should be large, read-only and have the current date on them (of when you exported them).Regards.
in reply to: 1.01% quality #20588Thanks. Could you please confirm the launcher is no longer reporting an error?
in reply to: 1.01% quality #20586Hi Hir0406,
Still not what you’re looking for. If you haven’t got 99.9% quality showing, a step has been missed somewhere. Are you saying that the launcher is now working for you? If so, the next step is to make sure you have exported data to the correct location.
Regards.
in reply to: 1.01% quality #20584Hi Hir0406,
If you have the opportunity to try this on another PC that would be helpful. You may also want to try running Tickstory as ‘Admin’ in case there is a permission issue. We haven’t had any reports of the launcher not working on the Build you mention. If this is still not working, you may need to look into Birt’s Launcher. in reply to: 1.01% quality #20582Hi Hir0406 – The Tickstory launcher has been successfully tested on this version. I would suggest that you try to press Launch MT4/F8 once MT4 is started – there may be some sort of a lag during the launch that could be causing the issue.
Regards.
