    Hi Norbertbti,

It appears something is preventing the configuration information from being accessed properly. Can you please check the following:

    – Is .NET v3.5 SP1 installed correctly?
    – Is the Tickstory configuration file/folder accessible (the config file usually resides in C:ProgramDataTickstoryTickstory LiteTickstory Lite.config).

    Thanks.

    Hi gooly,

Can you please refer to this thread which seems to be related to your issue:

    viewtopic.php?f=2&t=246&p=1451

If you can add any further information then this will help us investigate. We have been unable to reproduce the issue so far.

    Thanks.

    Hi Pisti,

When ‘Exporting to MT4’, select the ‘Metatrader Info’ tab and in the ‘Maps To’ field for EURUSD, enter “EURUSDm” (without the quotes). This will export EURUSD data into the MT4 symbol “EURUSDm”. You should then see this data in the History Center in MT4. If you do not, then something has been done incorrectly.

Please also refer to the user manual for more information on this topic.

    Kind regards.

Hi Norbertbti – What happens when you click the “Test connection” button in the settings? Is any error reported?

    Thanks.

    Hi Lukemp3,

Thanks for reporting this issue. We have identified the issue and as you have indicated, it relates specifically to the ‘Commission Type’ field when it is saved. The issue will be addressed in the next update of Tickstory.

    Regards.

    Hi Dkyle,

You are viewing the raw tick data files (*.bi5) instead of the CSV file you have exported. Note that in your export you have called the exported CSV file “test.csv” – this is the file that will contain the CSV data.

    Regards.

    Hi Lukemp3,

It appears you need some more access rights to install Tickstory. Can you please right-click on the setup.exe and choose to ‘Run As Administrator’ and see if that fixes the issue?

    Thanks.

    Hi Norbertbti,

Thanks for giving the details of your error. It appears there is something wrong while attempting to access your configuration file. Do you get the same error when you go to File->Settings and simply hiot the “OK” button?
If so, can you please try running the application as Administrator (right click Tickstory.exe and select “Run as Administrator”) to see if that fixes the problem?

    Thanks.

Hi Pisti – the “no data for testing” message usually appears when you have either

    1) Not launched MT4 via Tickstory or ;
    2) You have not correctly mapped the symbol (eg. “EURUSD”) to the actual symbol that is used in your MT4 (eg. “EURUSDm”) or;
    3) You have exported data to a different MT4 server (eg. “Alpari Demo”) instead of the server you are logged into (The MT4 login screen prompts you which server to use on startup and it needs to match the server you have selected to export data to).

    Hope this helps.

Hi Voly – if you are not getting a 99.9% modelling quality then you have not followed the correct steps as outlined in this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-rMOen4UHg

You will need to regenerate your export again and ensure that you have launched your Metatrader via Tickstory (as shown in the video).

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Gooly,

When you are exporting your data to MT4, just uncheck all the FXT timeframes and Tickstory will only generate the HST files which contain bar data only (i.e. 1-minute, 5-minute, etc).

    Hope this helps.

Hi Voly – if you are seeing the “Running” message, this indicates that the strategy tester is working correctly. It is possible that your EA is not functioning correctly. Check the Journal tab to see if its raising any error messages.

    Hi Foromex,

All we can recommend is that you ensure the latest .NET v3.5 service packs installed as well. Unfortunately we don’t run Tickstory under Linux so we can’t be of much more help, although we do welcome any other users who have such experience to help out if they can.

    Regards.

The in-built Tickstory launcher will provide you with the ability to do fixed spread back-testing. TDS has a few more advanced features if you need them.

    Regards.
