Hello,
It seems that my mt4 platform was updated already (build 825), Then I try to use Tockstory as usuall for testing I get a error window. How I can resolve this problem ? Thank you for your help.
Hi Alex,
You can download MT4 Build 725 from here:
[hide:i8wy3elu]http://www.tickstory.com/files/Metatrader.765.zip[/hide:i8wy3elu]
You will need to overwrite the included files with those in your installation folder. Make sure you have made any appropriate backups before doing this as some people have reported that they have come across issues.
Regards.
Thank you.It seems that after doing all these steps and launching terminal.exe it upgrades by itself to 825… May be there is a way how to avoid.
Do not connect to MetaQuotes server; or even if it downloads the new version and prompts to restart MT4, click cancel.
No it does not work. It updates itself into build 830 even i disconnect the internet.
Hi Jonyfx,
MT4 usually caches the update in the above-mentioned folder. Ensure this directory has been cleared before starting MT4.
If nothing resides there, I believe the update could also be in C:ProgramDataMetaquotesWebInstall.Regards.
1.I downloaded from Tickstory Lite (MT4 is closed at the same time)
2.I erased the folder that you pointed
3.I disconnect the internet
4.I opened Mt4 and testedThank you
If MT4 does not ask you before updating itself, the probably you have disabled User Account Control Settings (UAC) on your Windows. So whenever another MT4 installation downloads new updates, all your MT4 installations will be updated automatically when you launch them. To prevent this, you have to enable UAC. Open up start menu and search for UAC, go to “Change User Account Control Settings” and set the slider on “Default”; so when you launch MT4, you’ll be notified if it wants to update itself and prevent it.
Both folders below were cleared. But the issue is still there and the data is still overwritten.

C:UsersxxxAppDataRoamingMetaQuotesWebInstallmt4clwHi jollydragon,
after clearing the folders you have to download the version .765 and replace the 2 files in your Programfolder.
This should work! Here is a solution that seems to work:
1- Delete any file in this folder
C:UsersAppDataRoamingMetaQuotesWebInstallmt4clw
2- delete any file in this folder
C:ProgramDataMetaquotesWebInstall
3- If mt4 already upgraded, replace terminal.exe and metaeditor.exe with old files
4- Right click the 2 above folders, and set deny permission for everybody:
5- Launch mt4 again@jollydragon wrote:

5- Launch mt4 againAn even easier and full-proof setting:
1) right-click on blank area of desktop and create a new blank textfile called WebInstall.txt.
2) Rename the file to WebInstall [without the .txt extension]. You may have to go to Windows Explorer > Folder and Search options > View Tab > UN-check ‘hide file extensions for known file types’ In the same window, also select ‘show hidden files, folders, and drives’ radio button.
3) Set the WebInstall file to ‘read-only. Right-click on the the file > Properties > General Tab > Check ‘Read-Only’ > Apply/OK.
4) Delete the WebInstall folder in both places C:UsersAppDataRoamingMetaQuotes and C:ProgramDataMetaquotes
5) Copy the WebInstall file [read-only], to each location. Now to update the terminal to the latest builds, you must run the broker mt4 installer for each installation.
I would have a server with several terminals and if a server restart is done, auto-update could break functionality very easily. Sometimes not all terminals were updated at the same time. Huge headache.
Couple of things I did that seemed to work ok.
– set the security on the terminal.exe to “deny write” on all users and system

– put a “/skipupdate” command line arg into Tickstory

While I’m here, big kudos for the Tickstory product, love love love it, keep up the good work, you got my money for 1.6!
Cheers
