Interesting – that code helps a lot. Thank you!

So just to confirm – for a 5-digit broker on a 5-digit currency pair like EURUSD, entering the number “2” in strategy tester spread box means 2 points or 0.2 pips?!

Is there a way to tell in mt4 the number of “digits” the broker has?

portable mode or even 1 mt4 installation per strategy will work but I was hoping to find how to update the data folder associated with mt4 such that I could just change the data folder path to have mt4 launch to a new directory. The origin.txt file has a reference back to the mt4 installation it is associated with but the question is how mt4 know in the first place to open that data folder and how can we tell it to open a different folder? Basically, the path in origin.txt is the path of the mt4 installation, what I’m looking for is where to find the path of the data folder that mt4 opens and change that.

ok, I understand that a single MT4 installation allows you to use a single data folder location but what I am wondering is how mt4 knows where to look for the data folder, in other words where is the path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamingMetaQuotesTerminalD9CB00435C7F0D694E302C2AB3887B0D stored such that I can change the 24-alphanumeric directory name at the end to use a different one instead?

For example let’s say I have these 3 directories set up in Terminal for different projects:
    Terminalproject1
    Terminalproject2
    Terminalproject3

Is there a way to tell a single MT4 installation to read from project1 and then when I am done working on project1, tell MT4 to use project2 instead?

Or maybe having multiple installations is the easiest way for now until multi-terminal support becomes available?

would you consider adding release dates to the Release Notes text file to have some reference of when changes were made and what updates I’ve missed?

what I meant is if you launch via Tickstory, is there a way to change the spread via the drop-down option in the mt4 interface or is changing each fxt file individually via the mt4 data editor before launching the only way to change it?

ok, good to know. Do you know why I wasn’t able to change the spread using mt4? Maybe it wasn’t working because my files were set to read-only? If it’s possible to do it via mt4 that would be a big time-saver.

    Thanks.

Hi, any updates to this? It seems that there is an issue with Tickstory when making reference across time frames. It works some of the time but that very data set it worked on will not work when loaded up again.

Maybe it is something to do with the data not lining up across the time frames? Take 2013-mar-08 at 00:00 for example. Using the ea provided, M15, H1 & H4 all read 1.3379 while D1 reads 1.3108. In fact, M15, H1 & H4 still read 1.3379 a week later. They seem to be stuck on 1.3379 while D1 changes.

    Thanks 🙂
