multiple instances of Tickstory? speed up backtesting

Post by agora »

Hello,

because i try to develop a multipair strategy i must test my EA against 19 pairs.
Each test takes nearls 20h so i thought to speed things up, i just run another instance of tickstory under a ssecond user (Win7).
Sadly if i try this only the first instance (which was started first) works, and the second test only the first bar and aborts.

Interesting is ony my good old XP Machine i can run 1 tickstory instance (with seperate launched mt4) on 2 different user accounts.

It seems tickstory cant be run twice, is this possible to fix in the future?

I want to mention if i can make money in the future i will donate to you for sure :-)

I tested some further.
By now Windows 7 can run max 1 instance of Mt4 Backtest (started by Tickstory launcher).
I tried with different users offcourse and different brokers and folders.
The second instance always stops after 1 bar.

Interesting is, Windows XP can run 2 instance of Mt4 Backtest (started by Tickstory launcher) at the same time.
When i started to run a third instance with a third user, i get the same error lik under Windows 7,
the backtests "finished" after 1 bar.

I really want to understand why this happens .

My initial goal was to run 4 Instances on a quad cpu, but at the moment i am limited to 2.
(better than 1 at least ;-) )

If anyone haas ideas, please reply.

greetings

Ok i tried as workaround virtual box, but tickstory craches when i try to run it.
I mean in theory it should work.

Has anybody else tried this ?
