Embedding spread when exporting

Post by huangwh88 »

Hello all,

Been searching the forums regarding the spreads in the exports and just need to confirm:

1) If I am not testing with variable spread because I dont have TDS, is there any point in checking the 'embed spread' box when exporting?

2) If I used the tickstory EA to generate the broker settings which includes spread, what spread value do I choose in strategy tester?

Thank you!

Hello Huangwh88,

Regarding your questions:

1) Selecting 'Embed spread' when you haven't launched with TDS has no effect and simply utilises the spread specified in the Strategy Tester's 'spread' box.
2) The spread value that is in the 'MT4 Settings' tab is there for backward-compatibility purposes. In older versions of MT4, the spread value was specified here. With the latest versions of MT4, the spread is taken from the 'spread' field in the Strategy Tester (and the spread specified in 'MT4 Settings' has no effect).

Hope this helps!
