Hello,
My broker has a GMT+3/GMT+2 DST setting. The broker is aligned with the New York DST setting, meaning that between March and November the server time is GMT+3 and between November and March the server time is GMT+2. This aims a very important aspect which is that the NY session ends at 23:59 always and Asian session beings at 00.00, irrespective of the time of the year. With this setting there is always 5 full daily candles in one trading week.
I need to download Tickdata that follows this time concept: between March and beginning of November GMT+3 and GMT+2 the rest of the year, if possible with the transition dates aligned with New York (for 2016: 13th March and 6th November)
The problem is all except one of the UTC+3 possibilities in Tickstory is aligned with countries that don´t have DST (Russia, Iraq, Kuwait,...), therefore with this dataset I can only get the correct time half of the year. Turkey is also UTC+3 but the DST dates differ somewhat from the USA ones, specially in the transition from GMT+3 to GMT+2.
I´ve seen the other posts about DST but I didn't find the answer to my problem.
Thanks
lvelho

Re: DST GMT+3/GMT+2 Tick data
Hi Ivelho,
It sounds like you need "New york trading hours" timezone which is at the top of the time-zone selection list. You can refer to a couple of other threads which may also assist:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=921
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=801
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=490
The "New York" timezone will automatically adjust for DST with the rules for mention.
Regards.

Dear Tickstory,
I've made what you suggest and downloaded "New york trading hours" timezone as suggested.
I was expecting that the time stamp would be such that the begging of each trading day (meaning the second after the NY session close) would be expressed in local NY time (since the timezone is called "New york trading hour") and not always 00:00.
From the preliminary tests I´ve made it seems that the data expressed in ""New york trading hours" timezone" is considering however the start of the trading day at 00:00 (Winter and Summer). This is actually perfect for me, but I´d like to get confirmation from you: So can you confirm if the beginning of the NY close/Asia Open in "New york trading hours" timezone data is always at 00:00 independently of Summer or Winter ?
I take this opportunity to ask if there is any way to visualize the bar charts in MT4 from of the tick data I download before I first use the tick data in a backtest. I tried to open with "File|Open Offline" in the MT4 terminal but all I see is a chart with strange bars along the time. After I use the Tickdata file for a backtest for the first time I can already see the offline data normally as in any other MT4 chart.
Thanks for the support,
Luis
Re: DST GMT+3/GMT+2 Tick data
Hi Louis,
"New York Trading Hours" time-zone is designed to line up so each daily candle represents a single bar for each day of the trading week. A further description can be found here:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=131
If you are looking to shift time to the U.S Eastern timezone, then there is a selection further down the timezone selection box at +05:00UTC.
Regarding viewing the chart data, once you have completed your export all you need to do is select File->New Chart-><Symbol>.
Hope this helps.
