Hello,
I've searched for answers regarding EA authentication and Tickstory in FAQ and found none, so hence my question.
Some EA vendors require the EA to connect with their servers to be authenticated before it can be used. The first problem when trying to use Tickstory data together with these EAs is that it needs MT4 terminal to be connected to broker, so that the EA authentication can be performed.
But putting that aside, the real problem is that when I try to make backtests with these EAs by using the Tickstory launcher, the backtest goes nowhere. It just stalls at the beginning with no test trades being done.
I'd like to know if there is any way to circumvent this problem, that is to launch MT4 with Tickstory launcher and still be able to run these EAs that require to be authenticated by vendor's servers, so that I can run testes confidently with 99.9% modelling quality marking.
Thanks in advance for you supprt.
Tickstory with EAs that require authentication
Re: Tickstory with EAs that require authentication
Hi Lvelho,
The Tickstory launcher should not interfere with the operation of any EAs. The following may be some reasons why it's not working:
- You have not exported with the correct MT4 settings. Check this post if you are testing with a "special' symbol such as DAX: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=809.
- Your EA is sensitive to one of the exported settings. The EA logs in the "Journal" tab may be able to tell you more about whether this is happening.
- Your EA does not allow back-testing or has some sort of other restriction.
Please check your EA "Journal" tab to see if the EA is logging any issue. Just also double-check with the EA author if it is possible to back-test with the EA.
Hope this helps.
