Backtest not working when launching from Tickstory.

Post by redred »

I am using mt4 Build 910 and I just bought Tickstory to get 99.9% modeling quality.

But when I start backtesting I get this error.
2015.11.18 02:12:48.980 TestGenerator: no history data 'EURUSD60' from 2013.01.01 to 2014.12.31

Of course there's correct EURUSD60_0.fxt file in tester\history folder.

This error doesn't come out when I launch mt4 directly. But I don't get 99.9% modeling quality with this approach.

I'm a bit disappointed with paid version. Is it normal behaviour?
I tried backtesting connected and not connected to broker server also. It's just same.
fxt file size is about 3.2GB too

What things can I try?

Hi Redred,

No, this is not normal behaviour. It is important to get the all-important "99%" modelling quality. The fact that you are getting a "no history data" error means that MT4 is checking in a location different to where you have exported. To double-check where your data folder is, in MT4 go to File->Open Data Folder and note the folder that it is using. Then, in Tickstory, go to File->Settings->MT4 Settings and confirm that this is the same "Data Folder" that is specified in your settings. If it's not, re-set your MT4 Installation folder to your installation folder location (i.e. it usually is in the Program Files folder and should read something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Metatrader"). Once you do this, Tickstory will automatically try to detect the Data folder which should match the one MT4 is showing you. Also make sure that you have set your "Server" to the correct one.
Once you have done this, export the data and try again.
If you are still having problems, please check out the FAQ which runs through a useful checklist:

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your feedback.

I found the problem.
Few months ago, I moved whole metatrader to e drive to reduce the history data on ssd main drive. And I always launched metatrader with shortcut that has "/portable" command argument but I forgot about it.
As long as I inputted "/portable" aragument in Tickstory, it all came to work.

Sorry and thank you.
