Hi,
I bought the newest version of Tickstory (v1.7.2) and wanted to make a data export with specific / optimal settings for my broker account. Therefore I used "TickstoryInfoExpert.ex4" resp. I put it on a chart. The manual says it would then create an info file in "experts\files" but it doesn't do anything. I tested it in MT4 "Build 840" and "Build 890". Is there any compatibility issue? When will the new version of Tickstory with official support for "Build 890" be released?
Best,
Ben
TickstoryInfoExpert.ex4 not working
Re: TickstoryInfoExpert.ex4 not working
Hi Infasc,
We've tested the launcher and TickstoryInfoExpert on Build 890 and have had no issues.
Regarding the mt4config file, we've updated the FAQ with the following information:
Q. Why isn't TickstoryExpertEA generating config file?
A. Firstly, check you are checking the correct location. In MT4, go to File->Open Data Folder and then browse to the <Data Folder>/MQL4/Files folder. A file should exist with a *.mt4config extension.
If it does not, check the 'Experts' tab to see if any errors are being generated. This problem is sometimes caused by an invalid filename being generated (since it utilises your broker's name). You can force a valid filename by going to the EA's 'ConfigFileName' parameter to "Broker.mt4config".
Please let us know if that resolves your issue.
Thanks.

Re: TickstoryInfoExpert.ex4 not working
Hi,
And thx for the info.
I got it working but there were a lot of issues due to wrong descriptions and “little bugs”:
1.) “TickstoryExpertEA” is labeled “TickstoryInfoExpert” in my paid version “Tickstory v1.7.2” (language: German).
2.) The folder were the config file is created is not (like said in Tickstory’s description) in
“C:\...\Terminal\XXXXXXXXXXXXX\MQL4\Experts\files” but in
“C:\...\Terminal\XXXXXXXXXXXXX\config”.
3.) Tickstory’s description doesn’t say that it’s a “.mt4config file” and the software also doesn’t put this file extension into the file’s name. So I had to do this manually to be able to load it later in Tickstory.
4.) When “TickstoryInfoExpert” was working on the chart I had no idea how long I had to wait. I checked the size of the created config file but it was “0 KB” all the time. After closing the chart it immediately was 50 KB. When I repeated this process with longer waiting the file size didn’t grow. So I thought it must be finished but as I said there was no hint regarding this.
5.) I also realized that said “.mt4config” file didn’t include all values of the broker I use [Admiral Markets (“Prime”)] e.g. no commission cost although it’s 30 EUR per side and million. This may be a matter of the broker but I also think the GMT offset should be auto detected (which was not the case).
6.) After loading said “config file” I clicked “ok”, the dialog box was closed and Tickstory said the export had been successful. Considering the big data volume of “every tick” I knew that there was something wrong. I checked the data in the respective folders and couldn’t find them. I then repeated the process but this time I switched to the first tab in the export settings dialog box before clicking “ok” and then it worked (data download took some time and there was a progress status value in percent).
Best,
Ben

Re: TickstoryInfoExpert.ex4 not working
Hi Infasc,
Thanks for your feedback. Re: your points:
1. Yes, apologies this was a typo and has been corrected in the FAQ.
2. The location actually depends on whether you are running in "portable" mode or not which is why we've tried to make relative pathname references in the Quick Help tab.
3. We've put the mt4config extension on the todo list, however we are in the process of trying to simplify the process of acquiring MT4 settings which hopefully will remove the need for these configs.
4. The "Experts" tab provides a log of activity and information when the process is complete.
5. Unfortunately there is no MQL command to acquire the commission information which means this needs to be entered manually.
6. We've tried to reproduce the issue with your information, however could not find anything wrong. Perhaps it's possible there was something incorrect with your export dates? If you're continuing to have issues, please let us know the steps you're taking and we'll look into it.
Thanks again for the feedback.
