Data Accuracy

Post by Trader2384 »

Hi, for the last 4 hours I am having the toughest time trying to figure out on which date/at what time around the 1st of March, 2013 the ma20 crossed below the ma50. When I run an ea to detect this crossover using my broker's data, it says the crossover happened on 04-mar-13 at 00:00. Yahoo finance lists the same date. When I run the ea using Tickstory data on the D1 timeframe, it says the crossover happened on 27-feb-13 at 00:00. When I run it on the H4, H1, or even M15 timeframes, it says the crossover happened on 04-mar-13 at 00:00. I tried deleting/re-downloading the fxt files and installing a fresh copy of mt4 but the inconsistency persists.

Thank you :)

Hi Trader2384,

Unfortunately it's very difficult to troubleshoot issues with specific EAs and comparisons against other brokers. The best bet is to compare the bar charts between your broker and the Tickstory exported data while ensuring you have matching time-zones, etc. If there is a problem with the actual data that Tickstory is exporting we can assist further when we know the details (for example, if Tickstory is applying the wrong time-shift, the bar data OHLC is incorrect, etc).

Thanks.
