TickstoryInfoExpert error: could not open .mt4config file for writing (permissions already checked)

Hello,

I am getting the following error when running the TickstoryInfoExpert in MT4:

2026.01.02 19:03:13.654 TickstoryInfoExpert EURUSD,H1: Error - could not open file Mt4.Plexy Trade Ltd..Server.mt4config for writing. Ensure permissions have been granted.

What I have already tried:

• MT4 is installed outside Program Files (e.g. C:\MT4_Backtest\)

• Tickstory is also installed outside Program Files

• Both Tickstory and MT4 are run as Administrator

• Folder permissions allow full read/write access

• No external drive is being used

• Antivirus / Windows Defender is not blocking the folder

Despite this, the error persists. Could you please provide some assistance?

Hi Mibeme,

It's likely the file can't be created due to your broker name causing an invalid file name (i.e "Mt4.Plexy Trade Ltd..Server.mt4config'). You can override this by specifying the "ConfigFileName" parameter in TickstoryExpert's Expert Properties. Just put something like "PlexyTrade".
