Export to MT4 Parameters

Post by BigAl25 »

Hi

Is there any way or can this functionality be added to save parameters from the first tab(Data Export) of the export to MT4. This would be like saving the broker setting from the second tab (Metatrader Info). As an example - I only want a set period of data, only H1 data, adjusted for daylight saving. At the moment for every pair I test I use the same parameters, and I have to set dates, uncheck tick boxes, adjust for daylight saving which becomes quite tedious. If we could save these parameters and reload them, it would be a huge time saver and lesson the chance of forgetting a setting.

Thank you and here's hoping guys.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the suggestion - we understand what you are saying. We are working on a revamp of the export functionality and intend to cover this by allowing you to set all these parameters once. Although this doesn't help you immediately, hopefully the result will be worth waiting for.

Thanks for your patience on this.

Hi Guys,

I noticed we have had an update but I see this functionality has not been added.

We are some months on now; any news on when this might be ready?

Thanks.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for touching base. Our v2 update is complete re-write so it is taking longer than anticipated. We're working towards getting a beta out ideally before the end of the year.

Apologies for the wait but we hope it will be worth it.

Kind regards.

Hi,

It's now more than 3 years that this was meant to be added.
Is there any update to this?

I am in a situation where I need to export quite a number of different data to MT4, and my broker adds a suffix to each of them, or even worse, it uses a very different symbol name compared to what Tickstory provides (e.g. DOW_ecn/DJ30_stp/USA30), so I cannot just export in bulk.

So every time, I manually need to set:

- Date range
- Include weekends
- File format to Build 545+ (why isn't this the default by now?)
- Timeframes
- Embed spread
- Adjust timezone
- Map to

...over and over again.

You can imagine how tedious and error-prone this becomes.

It would be great if these settings could be saved as "last used" in Tickstory, or even better, be saved in the .mt4config file or the default config, along with the other parameters.

It seems to me that this could fit into a very minor update in the 1.9 track, rather than waiting for version 2, since you already have all the parameters-saving logic right there in the other fields of the same window. Essentially you just need to add some more fields to the mix.

Alternatively, will it work if I just export in bulk and adjust the filenames? That would already help as a workaround.

Thanks a lot.

Hi TheLegs,

To export multiple MT4 symbols, you can firstly multi-select the symbols holding down CTRL and clicking each symbol. After right-clicking your selection and choosing "Export to MT4", you can select all the date ranges etc that will apply to all the nominated exported symbols.

For each of the symbol's properties (in the Metatrader Info tab), you can select the symbol name (eg. EURUSD, GBPUSD, etc) and enter your broker's "Map to" equivalent for each symbol (eg. EURUSD.m, GPBUSD.m, etc). Tickstory will remember all the changes for each of the symbols. Once you are completed the setup, you can save this account/symbol configuration using the "Save as..". The next time you export, you can simply "Load" the configuration again as required.

Finally, once you are done with your changes, proceeding with the export will create MT4 databases for all the selected symbols (and selected date ranges, etc).

Regarding setting the date-ranges etc for the export, we currently do not save this to the .mt4config file as the intention of this configuration is to have broker-specific information only. They are considered transient settings which quite often change between exports. The MT4 Build should be automatically defaulting to 545+ when the "Export to MT4" window opens. If this is not the case for you, could you please tell us the steps you are getting to have this problem along with any particulars of your configuration (user language, O/S and anything else worth noting)?

Thanks.
