Hi Trader2384 – the launcher prevents MT4 from overwriting the (FXT) data that you export with Tickstory. Without it, MT4 will not use the exported data and will prompt with an error.

    Regards.

ok, I understand thanks. A related question: when I download the tickstory data, I checked the box “make fxt read only” but after they are downloaded why is the read only box unchecked?

    Hi Trader2384,

Are you referring to the ‘read only’checkbox on the FXT files?

    Thanks.

fxt files are not being set to “read-only” when downloaded even though “make fxt files read-only” is checked in mt4 export window. Not a big deal but I just want to make sure this is a bug and not a problem with my tickstory setup.

Hi – At this stage we think it’s a permissioning issue within Windows that is preventing the read-only flag from being set, however we are still unable to reproduce it. Are you able to try this for us: Delete the FXT files completely from the tester/history directory and re-generate them. Does this fix the issue? It may be that if the user that create the files is not the same as the user writing the files then there is an issue.

    Thanks.

I tried deleting/re-generating the files to no avail. Interestingly, it used to check the read-only flag (perhaps before the 600+ update). Not a problem, thanks for checking it out 🙂

Thanks for the feedback, Trader2384. This item is still on the open issues list so hopefully we’ll find a resolution soon.
