Backtesting accuracy

Dear Support,

After tons of errors, I am now succesfully able to do backtests. However, after the backtesting is done, I can not see anything concerning accuracy in the report. There has been no chart errors whatsoever, and as far as I know, the accuracy should be around 99,9%. Is this a problem, that I can not see anything regarding accuracy? How can I tell if my backtests are accurate enough?

Hi Mostmivan,

If you are correctly using the tick data that Tickstory has exported, you will see a 99% modelling quality. You will note also the number of ticks that were processed during the back-test which is usually in the thousands for a several month period.

Hope this helps.

Dear Support,

Thank you for your fast answer.

I am sorry, english is not my native language and I got to make sure what you are saying here. "See" in this context is a matter of speech, right? I dont actually see the number anywhere in the report even if I did everything correctly?

I have one more question: is there any fast way to make sure I did everything correctly? In the report it does not indicate any contradictional chart error (not sure if it is the right expression, we are using a foreign language client). Is there anything in the report or the log that should indicate if something is not right?

Thank you for your kind answer in advance.

Hi Mostmivan,

Your screenshot unfortunately doesn't contain the top right-most number of the report which should contain a modelling quality percentage of 99%.
This is essentially the indication that you have correctly exported and used the tick data that Tickstory has exported.
After this point, you will need to assume the quality of the source data and any further "sanity" checks can be done via visual inspection of the chart, or spot verifications that your strategy has taken the expected trade entries or exits.

Hope this answers your question.

Dear Support,

Thank you for your fast answer once again.

Unfortunately, as you can see below on the correctly sized picture (the last one did not show the actual problem), I dont have any kind of number there.

We need to make sure of the accuracy before we start trading.

How do we fix this?

Thank you for your kind answer.

Hi Mostmivan,

It looks like your image link is broken. You can upload images directly to the forum if you need. If I recall, I saw a glimpse of an "n/a" in the modelling quality. This is where you should be seeing a 99%. Our FAQ (http://www.tickstory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=613) deals with resolving the "n/a" modelling quality, so please check this out if you haven't already.

Thanks.
