It seems that creating a new symbol is not possible.
But you can generating the files still and you can see the offline chart.
Also you can also 'map' to a symbol you never use
e.g. GBPUSD.bo

It would be good to be able to hex edit a file to change GBPUSD.bo to something it is being used for.

We are looking at introducing a feature to add new symbols to MT4 in such a manner. For the moment, you are correct - the best way to achieve this is to use a symbol that you do not use.
