Server busy or unavailable

Hello,

I just subscribed (support ID 03D8-0314-12C1-0431-0A21-01C9) to your service. When downloading ticks I get the 'Server busy or unavailable' message. It seems to go to the dukascopy.com datafeed, instead of your servers. I checked:

1. That I have an active subscription (Help -> About).
2. When I click the ' Test ' button (File -> Settings -> Dukascopy) it says OK sometimes, but mostly error: timeout or the Test button just hangs.
3. The number of connections is set to 2 (File -> Settings -> General).

Why are the ticks now downloaded through your server now that I have an active subscription?

Hi Csnijder,

Could you please give the log details of the errors you are seeing so we can look at this further? We are aware of lags in getting the most recent data due to Dukascopy server delays. Tickstory falls back to the Dukascopy servers if that data is missing so the main "workaround" at this stage is to not request the most recent data (from the last few days) unless you're happy to wait for this latest data. All data prior should still be acquired from our servers.

Thanks.

Server busy or unavailable: Timeout - The operation has timed out [20] (http://datafeed.dukascopy.com/datafeed/ ... _ticks.bi5).

I'm not downloading recent data yet. I try and download data from a month ago.

Hi Csnijder,

The URL has a month that's zero-based (ie. 00=Jan, 01=Feb, etc), so 2026/07 in the URL actually is referring to August. We've just checked our servers and the data is currently up-to-date, so there's nothing to do on our side except to wait for the data to be updated in time.

Hope this helps.

I see, but the exact same thing happens when I try to download May:

Server busy or unavailable: Timeout - The operation has timed out [20] (http://datafeed.dukascopy.com/datafeed/ ... _ticks.bi5)

Hi Csnijder,

That's curious if those errors occurred in the last few days because we can see our servers have the complete month. Firstly, can you please confirm you are using the latest 1.9.8.14 of Tickstory?

If you are using the latest, can you please do the following test for us:

1) Go to Tickstory's File->Settings and set a different Dukascopy "Store Location" (make sure you store the current setting somewhere so you can restore it after the test. Save your settings.
2) Right-click EURUSD and click 'Download' and set the dates between 1st May 2026 to 31st May 2026 (1-month total).
3) When the download task commences, please note if you see the status description to say "Requesting Month 5...". This indicates that the system is downloading the entire month at once. The download should take only a few seconds. If it doesn't, please note what happens including any log errors.
4) Restore your previous settings in File->Settings.

Thanks.

I'm also facing the same issues , server busy or unavailable. Also I want to download the data on my laptop so that I can use it offline , can free users download the data for offline use?

Hi Saurabh,

Yes, the software will cache data on both the Lite and paid versions, however when you have a subscription you will get access to our own data servers which will allow you to download the data much faster.

Hope this helps.

What about server not available issues?

Hi Saurabh,

The "server unavailable" messages are due to Dukascopy servers being overloaded at the time of your request. When you have an active subscription, you will be bypassing these servers (and these errors) by utilising our own servers instead.

Thanks.
