Apparent Launch trouble

Hi
I ran into a MT4 launch niggle that is beyond me. After starting Tickstory and launching MT4 from it the MT4 platform opens.
Shortly after that a Tickstory window opens telling me that a suitable launcher could not be found.
I can still run back tests but not with 99.9 % accuracy.
This problem occurred after I had taken the Hard Disk of my PC and reattached it after a while.
I used it to run on another PC.
I have done this before and it always worked fine. So I reinstalled Tickstory and MT4 (Build 825) to the external drive again
yet the problem persists. The external HD is a SSD drive.

Do you have any ideas of how to overcome this. I am fresh out.

Thanks very much
regards
ekke

Hi again.
There is some additional info on what is happening with regard to my post above.

From the Journal:
2015.05.25 18:11:37.988 TestGenerator: server "Tickstory-Demo" differs from "GlobalPrime-Demo" terminal connected to

Normally I would link this to incorrect setting under the File > Settings > MT4 Settings Tab.
But that is all set correctly.

thanks

Hi Ekke,

Make sure you have specified the MT4 installation folder and started MT4 manually at least once.
WRT the Build 825 launch issue, this is being tracked here:

Thanks.

Hi
Thanks for replying to my post.
Yes, I have checked all of that. Check the above images. The T:\Global Prime Folder is
the location of the MT4 installation and starting MT4 manually from the root T:\Global Prime\terminal.exe
starts up normally.
Since build 830 Tickstory has a problen seeing the installation at all.
I have in the meantime used a backup (build 825) of my previous installation with goes right back to
the first problem in my series of posts.
I can model but it looks as if the results are different to what I had when all was working fine (build 725).
I get n/a but with a green band in the Report.
I attached a snapshot for you .

I installed all of it a couple of times over but with no luck.
Finally I have a suggestion which you can maybe implement.
Is it possible to launch MT4 from Ticklite with the \noupgrade switch installed?
Not sure if this is the correct wording but there is a switch around that stops
this sneaking in of unwanted upgrades.
Do you know of a complete 725 installation that I can download?
I could not find one.

thanks and regards
ekke

Hi Ekke,

You can download the executable files for Build 765 from here:

http://www.tickstory.com/files/Metatrader.765.zip

I suggest you revert back to this build if you are continuing to have difficulties.
You can find some hints on how to prevent auto-update on this thread:

http://tickstory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=683

Hope this helps.

Hi
Thanks for coming back.
Thanks also for the link, but it seems to be broken. Only points to your home site.
Can you have a look at it please.
I would really appreciate a stand alone build 765.
I have a 765 terminal.exe file but just replacing it in the MT4 (build 830) file set
does not solve the problem. Tried it already.

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to me and listening to my problems.
It really is appreciated.

Hi Ekke,

Apologies - the link should be fixed now.
Unfortunately the most recent full installation we have is 509 which you can find here:

http://www.tickstory.com/files/MetaTrad ... 20Full.zip

Hope this helps.

Hi
I cannot stress enough how much I like the way you response. Thank you.
Also thank you for the new link.
I have solved my problem by patching together a (build 765) which I found installed on
one of my PCs. I think I sorted out how this whole thing hangs together.
Anyway the (765) works now and I get all the results as usual.

Is the only way to block updates by denying SYSTEM access to the WebInstall folder?
And finally I am looking forward towards your next release.

Have a good weekend
