Good morning
I have an other question
I do have very differents results whether I use the CSV file downloaded from Tickstory and then imported in MT4
On the first MT4, which is not not linked to Tickstory
I import the CSV files manually in the MT4 history center. All the timeframe to make sure there is no mistake
And i do have an other MT4 (same broker) installed on my computer.
Which is linked to Tickstory
On this one i export the datas straight from Tickstory
When I do an optimisation using "CONTROL POINTS"
The results are the same for the 2 MT4
But when I retest some strategies using "EVERY TICK", results are completely different
On the second MT4 (which is linked to TICKSTORY), results are little bit different which is normal.
But on the MT4 where I used the CSV files, results are completely different.
See attached screenshots
- Control points is the results for each MT4. Exactly the same results
- every TICK CSV file, is the results for the first MT4 which is not linked to Tickstory. Where i importes manually the CSV files
- every TICK export to MT4, is the MT4 for which is linked to TICKSTORY
Hope it is clear for you and you can give me some help
Best regards

Re: Diiferent result Export to MT4 VS CSV
Hi VincentNeroodua,
MT4 does not import tick data via CSV which is likely the cause of the differences. You are essentially comparing results from 1-minute data to tick data results which can cause a significant difference in your results depending on how your EA works.
Hope this helps.

Thank you
An other question then
How does the FXT works when I do my backtest in "control point" ?
Comparing to "every tick" ?

Hi Vincent,
The "Control point" modelling method takes the 1-minute data (HST) files to create the open, high, low and close prices for the control points (i.e. 4 "ticks" for each minute). Technically speaking, MT4 generates a separate FXT file for the control point data versus tick data.
You can refer to our manual for a quick primer on the way MT4 structures its database which might be helpful to you.
Thanks.
