Hi,
I ran a download with Tickstory, it went successfully. Then I clicked on Tools/Export to a file (I expect that the downloaded data will be exported but I'm not sure) and I got the "Access denied" issue several people had. But even with Admin rights, I am unable to change the access rights in a Program Files folder... Programs are not expected to write in this Windows protected directory. It would be simpler if Tickstory allowed the user the export the file in the folder of his choice.
Anyway, since the data have been downloaded successfully, where can I get them?
Regards,
Mark
Denied access when saving file
Re: Denied access when saving file
Hi Mark,
If no folder is specified, then Tickstory defaults to the current running folder. And yes, if your installation is in Program Files, then you will come across issues.
Of course, you can specify the full folder name of your choice such as:
c:\users\yourname\documents\{Symbol}.csv
For more information on specifying folders and the access denied errors, please see:

and also our video on this topic here:

Thanks.

Re: Denied access when saving file
Hello,
Oh, I didn't know that the output directory could be changed manually. Thanks, I could export the file!
Now, I analyzed the resulting file (M1 EUR/USD from 2018-01-01 to 2019-01-01) and I found out two anomalies:
- Instead of starting at 00:00, the first observation starts on 01/01/2018 at 23:00.
- The OHLC values are totally different from those I downloaded from https://www.histdata.com/download-free- ... tes/EURUSD at the same dates
Are you sure your algorithm to convert from ticks to higher timeframes is correct?
Cheers,
Mark

Re: Denied access when saving file
Hi Mark,
Forex instruments are not traded on a central exchange so there will be price variations between brokers depending on many factors such as liquidity and trading activity occurring at each exchange.
Similarly, the trading activity on Dukascopy could have been "unusual" on 1/1/2018 given that it was New Year's day. It is not unusual for a broker to have gaps and/or low-volume activity for holidays and so forth.
Regards.
