Export Failed: Access to the path denied

Post by ivolux23 »

Hello,

I know this is a common issue but even after doin all the sugettions from this forum I still get the Export Failed: Access to the path denied error? :(

Here is what i 've done:
1. Placed the Dukascopy datasoucre folder in the users folder C:/user/tickstory data
2. Installed the MT4 on the users folder C:/user/MT4
3. Started Ticksory as Administrator

But I still get this access to path is denied error :(
Any ideas what do I try next?

P.S. I’m running this on VPS with Server 2016
Any help is much appreciated
Cheers,
-Ivolux

Hi Ivolux23,

If you've recently back-tested on MT4, it is likely that MT4 is locking the file. To solve the issue, try closing all instances of MT4 and export again.

Thanks.

Hi Ivolux,

From what I understand, you are getting errors on writing to the FXT files in the "MT4 Data folder". I can only imagine it is caused by:

1) The file being in use by MT4, in which case you should close all instances of MT4 (it's not clear whether you did this?)
2) Windows permissions on the folder are disallowing you from writing.

In the second case, you might want to try to test the theory by manually saving a file in the folder location (using Notepad, for eg) to see if Windows is preventing you from writing to that folder. If so, you will need to either 1) Change permissions on that folder to allow writing and/or 2) Work in MT4's "portable" mode (check the manual for more on this) which allows you to keep the installation files & data in a nominated location. Obviously this location should have the appropriate Windows "write" permissions.

If you continue to have difficulties determining permissions, I would inquire with the VPS administrator to see if they can assist further.

Hope this helps.
