What's the normal Historical tick data size?

Post by saso1111 »

Hi, i am not used to tick story

i downloaded historical data for EUR/JPY from 2013 to 2019 and it was 500 megabytes,

then exported to metatrader 4 only 1 year from 2018 to 2019 and it was 10 gigabytes

is that size normal 10 gigabytes for 1 pair and just 1 year ?

the data exported to C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\MetaQuotes\Terminal\78018BF8E4B8CB61E89FB3614C7A8909\tester\history

is it right to be in tester folder ?

Hi Saso1111,

If you are comparing the size of your broker's data vs Tickstory, then that is expected. The size of the data export will be much larger when exported from Tickstory as it contains quality tick-by-tick information in the files.
If you want to save some disk space, you can choose only the time-frames you are interested in by selecting only those for export. For example, if you only test under the 15-minute time-frame, you can select only the "M15" during your export. (You can also delete all the other *.fxt files other than the EURJPY15_0.fxt one).

More information is available in the user manual if you press F1 within the application.

Thanks.
