Backtesting Data (array out of range)

Post by msjtipping »

Hello,
I am new to Tickstory and have recently purchased Tickstory Standard.
When I try to back test more than 12months of data I get an "array out of range" error in MT4
II want to back test 5 years of historical data.
What am I missing here....?
Thank you

Hi Msjtipping,

The "array of range" error is due to something having been incorrectly coded in your EA. For example, it may be that the developer didn't expect more than x number of price movements in a minute and now you're testing with tick data you are exceeding this limitation. As such, you'll need to correct the problem in the EA before you can continue.
Here is a thread which might add a little more information for you:

Hope this helps.

Hi Tickstory,
Thank you for the addition link.
I wrote the EA via fxdreema but I didn't think I created any criteria that would limit the x number of price movements in a minute.
I will revisit the blocks utilised and direct the question towards fxdreema to see if they can help.
Thank you!

Hi Msjtipping,

You're welcome. Note that it's not necessarily related to ticks-per-minute as this was just an example. Hopefully the EA author can assist.

Kind regards.
