RECOMMENDED BACKTESTING RANGE DATES

5 YEAR TESTING = 2013.01.01 to 2018.01.01
Pre-load to 2012.01.01 for indicator/support and resistance reference

10 YEAR TESTING = 2008.01.01 to 2018.01.01
Pre-load to 2007.03.30 for indicator/support and resistance reference

RECOMMENDED BACKTESTING METHOD BASED ON DATA AVAILABILITY ON TICKSTORY

Trading strategy executions on M1
• Backtest chosen instruments for 3 Months

Trading strategy executions on M5
• Backtest chosen instruments for 6 Months

Trading strategy executions on M15
• Backtest chosen instruments for 1 Year

Trading strategy executions on M30
• Backtest chosen instruments for 3 Years

Trading strategy executions on H1

NOTE: This is only a recommendation. if you have an EA that trade M1, feel free to test for 10 years, but if you are a discretionary trader I highly recommend you follow the one above

What would be interesting (indeed compelling) is the reasoning overall and in each case for the recommendations. What and how does following the time frames recommended (i.e. back test lengths) add to strategy?
