Launching and back-testing beginner questions

Post by Michael Hall »

Dear Admin ...

I have successfully downloaded v1.8.9.1 to my MT44 1090 build platform ... When I go to tools and choose launchMT4 noting happens ... When I launch MT4 the regular way the data has not populated the historical data section and the backtest doesn't get any results ... The FXT files are located in OpenDatafolder/Tester/History folder as it should be and the M1 through the monthly with each file having 2 years of data ... I am at a block here and cant figure out the next step...

Hi Michael,

Not entirely sure what you mean by "the data has not populated the historical data section ". The first thing to do is ensure that you are getting 99% modelling quality on your back-testing report. If you are, this means you are doing everything correctly and your EA is simply not trading for some reason.

To ensure you are getting 99% modelling quality, please follow this video guide:

https://youtu.be/084k9fJCeCY

If you are still not getting 99% modelling quality, please check out our trouble-shooting guide on the topic:

If you are getting 99% modelling quality but your EA is not trading, please check out our general trouble-shooting guide on this:

Finally, if you are still having issues, please send us some screenshots of the problem so we can try assist further (a further explanation of

Thanks.

It appears from the file size that the data was downloaded properly and into the correct file as per your video.. I have downloaded v1.8.9.1 to my MT4 1090 build platform and copied and pasted your activation code into the proper spot.. My problem is that I when I choose Launch MT4 a error message box pops up and says "A suitable launcher could not be found for your Metatrader version. with a list of Launchers tried below: Please Help!
Thank you very much

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the further information. Just to double-check, did you go through the trouble-shooting steps here to resolve the issue:

https://tickstory.com/help/tickstorylit ... cher_error

I assume your software activated correctly when you entered your key (i.e. you should get a 'thank you' message and the software tool bar should have an unlocked padlock icon).
If not, you will need to ensure this is addressed first. Enter the key as delivered to your email address - just make sure there are no spaces or line-feeds.

If this is all good, please go through the trouble-shooting check-list as it's likely that one of the other notes listed will address the problem.

If not, please send us a screenshot of 1) the error message and 2) your Tickstory File->Settings->Metatrader settings so we can assist further.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response again ...

I am now able to "Launch MT4" and run a back test .. However the data is not as good as it should be. The modeling ran at 65% ... See attached JPEG file ... I may need to download the data again ... What do you think?

Hi Michael,

Good to hear the launcher issue is fixed, but it still looks like there is an issue. Until you are getting 99% modelling quality, it means you are not using tick data. Please check out our FAQ for possible causes of this issue:

https://tickstory.com/help/tickstorylit ... ng_quality

As before, if you have any issues, please send us some screenshots (it's likely that you have not 'Mapped' your symbol correctly from the Tickstory symbol name to the exact MT4 symbol name, so make sure you have done this - there is more information in the user manual).

Thanks.
