Modelling Quality "n/a" (already have read the FAQ)

Post by triatlas »

Hello,

unfortunately I still get a modelling quality "n/a" when backtesting. The backtest runs within the exported period (last two years, which is correct).

Installation: MT4 Portable

Tickstory Store Location: U:\AdmiralMarkets-MT4-Portable\TickstoryLiteDatabases
MT4 Store Location: U:\AdmiralMarkets-MT4-Portable\MetaTrader 4 Admiral Markets-Portable
MT4 Data Folder: U:\AdmiralMarkets-MT4-Portable\MetaTrader 4 Admiral Markets-Portable

Server Name: AdmiralMarkets-Demo2 (used for the export, too)

MT4 launched via tickstory with command line /portable

Symbol Settings retrieved by using the TickStoryInfo EA. Mapped to correct Symbol [DAX30]

Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.

Regards

Hi Triatlas,

A "N/A" modelling quality is usually indicative of not having launched MT4 via Tickstory. Are you using the latest version of Tickstory v1.7.4? Are you getting any errors when launching MT4 from Tickstory or anything notable happening? Usually you will see the MT4 Title mention that it has been launched by Tickstory. Are you getting this?

Thanks.

Hello,

yes, I launched MT4 via Tickstory as indicated.

Hi Triatlas,

It doesn't appear that you are using the data that Tickstory exported. Have you actually mapped the symbol to your MT4 symbol (which looks like it is called "[DAX30]" - without the quotes)? You need to ensure that you map your data to the MT4 symbol of your terminal. Instructions on how to do this are in the manual (F1) and also if you do a search for "map to" in the forum.

Hope this helps.

The symbol is correctly mapped as indicated in the tutorial. It is called [DAX30].

The shortcut for the symbol is taken from here and checked with one of my broker's support members: http://www.admiralmarkets.com/start-tra ... ment/dax30

Can you please double-check your data folder is actually pointing to where you expect? In MT4, select File->Open Data Folder. Does this point to the data folder you expect?
Indications still seem to point to the correct data file not being used. Could you please double-check the Tickstory export directory vs the MT4 Data folder and ensure there is no "similar looking" FXT file that is being created by MT4 (you can sort by date in File Explorer to see the latest files created).
Please let us know how you go.

Thanks.

Yes, the data folder is correct:

But having a look at the timestamps I think the M30 could have been modified.
But I am not sure. How can I prevent the files from being overwritten?
When I check "Make FXT readonly" MT4 does not even read it, I get a cannot open (or similar) error message.

I am currently testing on M30 as my EA will use that timeframe.

The Tickstory settings:

I have set p. Calc mode to 1 as the [DAX] is a CFD, is that correct?

After recreating the M30 data I now get a modeling quality of 1,25% (only)
Something seems to be wrong.

Hi Triatlas,

Thanks for the helpful screenshots. Are you running Tickstory on MacOS or do you have the drive mounted from a network? It seems that the files aren't being marked as read-only. Is there some way you can manually mark them as read-only and see if this fixes the problem? You will need to re-generate your export again first. You can just export 1-month and 1-timeframe to make things faster if you like - just until we finish trouble-shooting the issue.

Thanks.
