Re: MT5 Historical Tick data files
Actually, one more question: Do you know if I can do the following: Download 1 year of data, create a custom symbol and import the bars and ticks. Then at some point in the future, download an extra 1 or 2 years of data for this symbol and add it to my existing custom symbol? This would avoid me hav...

MT5 Historical Tick data files
Hi, Could you let me know where MT5 stores the historical bar and tick data for my custom symbols after I import the csv files I download from Tickstory? I know where the Tickstory files are, as I selected the location, but I am interested to know where MT5 historical data is stored for the custom s...

Multi-currency testing in MT5
Hi, I read your guide about how to download tick data from tickstory to MT5 and backtest, which involves creating a custom symbol. But what happens if I want to test an EA that trades multiple currencies? This EA will refer in the code the symbols that it wants to trade, but it will not select the T...

Re: Reset the dates of downloaded data
Basically I just want to be able to reset the "to" and "from" dates to be blank again (like nothing was ever downloaded).
Is this possible?
Is this possible?

Re: Reset the dates of downloaded data
Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes I understand that.
However I am asking if there is a way to change it? I prefer to only see the current relevant "from" date, rather than previous downloads that are no longer relevant to me.
Any help if it's possible to change this appreciated.

Reset the dates of downloaded data
Hi, When I download data for testing, I often delete the HST and FXT files afterwards to save space. I then just re-download the required date range again next time I want to test a currency pair. I notice however that when I delete the files, the date range of the last download (date from and date ...

Re: Backtesting a H1 EA
very clear, thanks. One other question. I have a commerical EA that is linked to my account name for live use and backtesting. One side effect of this is that I need to be logged into a live account on my testing environment, so the EA is able to validate my account name. I read this can cause an is...

Re: Backtesting a H1 EA
Hi Djroj2001, Yes you can select H1 or whatever time-frame of your choice in the MT4 strategy tester. This particular setting essentially determines the time-frame your EA is tested under and not the modelling quality. With modelling quality, if you would like the most accurate results you will nee...
