Hi there,
I have completed a forum & google search and can't seem to find a solution.
I have installed Tickstory on my C drive (program files etc).
MT4 is installed on my C Drive.
The downloads from Tickstory are stored on my other Hard Drive (E Drive) (About 30gb so far).
My C drive is 1.8 TB and is now full, I only have a few programs on my computer!!. When I export data to MT4 it loads up my C drive even though the data is sotred on my E Drive, my C drive is now full. I have tried to installed MT4 on my Hard Drive (E Drive) where MT4 installs and works, however when I try to change the folder to export to MT4 in Tickstory it says the folder location is invalid and needs to be in the C Drive.
Can anyone assist me as to why my C Drive is now 1.8TB full????
Thankyou.
Install Issues with Ext Drive (Storage locations)
Re: Install Issues with Ext Drive (Storage locations)
Hi Rambo,
There are 2 main locations where disk space will be used:
1) The storage of tick data that is downloaded from the internet. This is in location specified in Tickstory's File->Settings->Dukascopy Datasource->Store location.
2) The MT4 databases (FXT & HST). This is stored in the MT4 "Data folder" (MT4's File->Data Folder). By default this information is stored in MT4 on the C: drive.
In your situation, it sounds like you need to use MT4's Portable Mode to run MT4 from your E: drive and also store the data in the same location.
Portable mode configuration is discussed in our manual and you can find out more specific information in our forum by searching for "portable mode".
Once you have configured MT4 to use your external drive, you can delete the old Data Folder information to free up space on your C drive.
Hope this helps.

Re: Install Issues with Ext Drive (Storage locations)
Thanks for the response,
I have tried this, this is the error I keep getting from Tickstory after installing MT4 in portable mode on my E Drive.
"Invalid Location. This does not appear to be a valid MT4 installation directory. Please ensure you have selected the root Metratrader folder (eg. C:\Pgoram Files\Metatrader) and you have run MT4 at least once prior to selecting the installation folder.

Re: Install Issues with Ext Drive (Storage locations)
Hello,
If you follow the above-mentioned steps, you are editing the configuration file and effectively bypassing the usual checks and therefore receiving no prompts.
Do note that by forcing the configuration, it is assumed that your MT4 portable mode has been configured correctly. As mentioned above, you should confirm in MT4 first - this is not related to Tickstory configuration. If MT4 using the data on your E: drive, then you will need to resolve this first (and will be the cause of your issue).
Hope this helps.
